Vietnam-Sri Lanka Air Connectivity ✈️

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi warmly congratulates Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air on the launch of their direct flight services connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam and Colombo, Sri Lanka since 17-18 August, 2026.

The introduction of direct air connectivity marks an important milestone in strengthening links between our two countries, making travel more convenient and opening new opportunities for trade, tourism, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Embassy believes that these new direct connections will contribute significantly to bringing the peoples and businesses of Sri Lanka and Viet Nam closer together and creating new avenues for cooperation and partnership.

Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit 2026 - Registrations Open

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi is pleased to share the Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit 2026 (SLEIS 2026), Sri Lanka’s premier economic and investment forum, to be held on 12–13 October 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo under the theme:

“Positioning Sri Lanka in a Changing Global Economy: Resilience, Reform, and the Future of Economic Policy.”

The Summit will bring together senior government officials, policymakers, investors, business leaders and international experts to explore Sri Lanka’s economic reforms, investment opportunities, export potential and growth strategy.

International participants will have opportunities to engage with key decision-makers, explore high-growth sectors, participate in B2B networking, and develop potential partnerships and investment opportunities.

Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2026

Đại sứ quán Sri Lanka hân hạnh thông báo rằng Lễ hội Esala Perahera (Kandy Esala Perahera) - một trong những lễ hội văn hóa Phật giáo lâu đời và đặc sắc nhất thế giới - sẽ được tổ chức tại thành phố lịch sử Kandy từ ngày 18 đến ngày 27 tháng 8 năm 2026. Đại lễ rước chính (Grand Procession) sẽ diễn ra vào ngày 27 tháng 8 năm 2026.

Kandy Esala Perahera là lễ rước văn hóa và tôn giáo lớn nhất hằng năm của Sri Lanka, được tổ chức nhằm tôn vinh Xá lợi Răng Phật. Đoàn rước hoành tráng quy tụ những chú voi được trang trí lộng lẫy, các nghệ nhân đánh trống truyền thống, vũ công, nghệ sĩ múa lửa, biểu diễn roi và nhiều nghi lễ văn hóa Kandyan đã được gìn giữ qua nhiều thế kỷ, mang đến cho du khách từ khắp nơi trên thế giới một trải nghiệm thực sự ấn tượng và khó quên.

Strengthening Sri Lanka - Viet Nam Cooperation in Education

As part of his official visit to Viet Nam, Hon. Dr. Madhura Senevirathna, Deputy Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka, met with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, to discuss opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of education.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on strengthening educational collaboration, promoting institutional partnerships, and sharing Viet Nam's experiences in education governance, quality assurance, accreditation, learner protection, and the development of transnational education.

The Sri Lankan delegation also gained valuable insights into Viet Nam's legal and regulatory framework for education and the country's best practices in managing and advancing its education system. The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to fostering knowledge exchange and promoting sustainable development through education.

🇱🇰 Sri Lanka Unveils the Newly Launched Buddhist Trail and Exceptional Tourism Offerings to the Vietnamese Market

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Viet Nam, in collaboration with Luxury Holidays Asia, successfully organized the "Discover Sri Lanka" tourism promotion event in Ha Noi on 28 July 2026.

The event promoted Sri Lanka as a premier destination for the Vietnamese market, with special emphasis on the country's rich Buddhist heritage and the enhanced travel opportunities created by the launch of direct flights between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam.

The event was graced by Most Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha, together with senior representatives of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, government officials, and tourism stakeholders.

In his opening remarks, Posh*tha Perera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Viet Nam, highlighted the centuries-old religious and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam rooted in Buddhism. He introduced the newly launched Sri Lanka Buddhist Trail, an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, showcasing the island's most sacred Buddhist sites, including Anuradhapura, Mihintale, and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. The Ambassador noted that the initiative would further strengthen spiritual and cultural links while promoting religious tourism.

A destination presentation by Mr. Nishantha Jayasinghe, Managing Director of Luxury Holidays Asia, highlighted Sri Lanka's diverse tourism offerings, including heritage, wildlife, beaches, wellness, adventure, and luxury travel experiences tailored for the Vietnamese market.

Representatives of VietJet Air introduced their promotional travel packages to Sri Lanka and highlighted the airline's upcoming direct services between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo. The event also underscored the launch of direct air connectivity by both VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines in August, a significant milestone expected to boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Adding a personal perspective, Ho Thi Thanh Truc former Ambassador of Viet Nam to Sri Lanka, together with Vietnamese travellers who had previously visited Sri Lanka, shared their experiences and encouraged more Vietnamese tourists to discover Sri Lanka's unique attractions, warm hospitality, and rich cultural heritage. The programme concluded with a high tea and networking session, enabling participants to engage with tourism professionals, airline representatives, and the Embassy.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka believes that the introduction of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Trail, together with the commencement of direct flights by VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines, will significantly enhance tourism exchanges between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam and open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in tourism and cultural connectivity.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi extends its warmest congratulations to the Viet Nam - Sri Lanka Friendship Association on the successful convening of the Second National Congress, term 2026-2031.

On 28 July, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Viet Nam, had the honour of attending the Congress and delivering remarks, reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam and expressing the Embassy's appreciation for the Association's invaluable role in fostering people-to-people exchanges and promoting cooperation across a wide range of fields.

The Embassy highly values the Association's continued efforts in promoting mutual understanding and friendship over the years. We are confident that, under the leadership of the newly elected Executive Committee, the Association will continue to make meaningful contributions to advancing the Comprehensive Partnership between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam and creating new opportunities for collaboration in trade, tourism, education, culture, and investment.
