Some friends ask me how to improve skills in TOEFL iBT. Here is a short summary of my tips:
1. Reading: Be slow and be patient. After answering all questions of reading passage, regardless you did it wrong or all right, look back to the passage and write down ALL new words and strange structure. Don't be lazy and do not focus too much on the score especially at the beginning of study. In PracticeMakesPerfect, we ease this task for you by giving you the built-in dictionary and note taking function. UTILIZE IT. Nothing there without a reason.
2. Listening: God, use the transcript as your power tool. Many learners just forget that they have this option. Again, don't be lazy. Play the audio while reading the transcript. And even stop the audio and try to read out loud the transcript with exactly up and down tone and pronunciation ( this even help you with speaking)
3. Speaking: As I mention above, please read out loud the transcript of listening. Also, prepare for you a template. Lastly, take any chances to speak, speak while you are driving, speak while you are taking shower, speak while washing dishes. If you have a speaking partner, that's even better.
4. Writing: Read sample writing, note down all nice structures. You can get the good structure in reading section as well. Write, write and write. NEVER WAIT UNTIL 1 WEEK BEFORE YOU TAKE THE EXAM to start writing. It never works.
Some of our advanced members work very hard, they complete all of our question bank in just 1-2 months. That sounds awesome but reality is not. They never look back to the reading passage after done, never take note, never use dictionary to look for new words, never use the transcript to improve listening... At the end, THEY NEVER LEARN. That's sad. So QUALITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUANTITY.
PracticeMakesPerfect is a power gun to shoot down TOEFL iBT. We design it to empower you. USE IT and USE IT RIGHT.
