🌟 MSG Celebrates the Energy, Creativity and Leadership of Melanesian Youth 🌟

On this International Youth Day, the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat celebrates the young people of Fiji 🇫🇯, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬, Solomon Islands 🇸🇧, Vanuatu 🇻🇺, and New Caledonia 🇳🇨.

Young people make up the majority of our population in Melanesia. Melanesia accounts for 79% of the Pacific youth population (15 – 24 years), with an estimated 1.5 million young people. They are students, artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, community leaders and volunteers, and the next generation of leaders. 👥✨

MSG’s View on Youth in Melanesia
Across our region, we see Melanesian youth:

1. Leading in Communities: Taking the lead and organizing clean-ups, cultural events, sports, and church youth groups. 🏆

2. Protecting Culture: Learning language, cultural dances, sand drawing, weaving, and sharing kastom with pride. 🏝️

3. Caring for the Environment: Activists, planting trees/mangroves, protecting beaches, running turtle conservation projects, and leading climate awareness in schools. 🌊🌱

4. Building the Future: Starting small businesses, creating music and art, and using technology to connect and learn. 💡🎨

The MSG believes that when we invest in youth, we invest in the strength of our families, our culture, and our region. ❤️

MYJCS SIGNS CORPORATE PLAN 2026–2030 TO STRENGTHEN SERVICES FOR THE PEOPLE

The Ministry of Youth, Justice and Community Services (MYJCS) has officially endorsed its Corporate Plan 2026–2030, setting a clear strategic direction for the Ministry and all agencies under its portfolio for the next five years.

Following a comprehensive review and validation process involving senior representatives and Heads of Agencies, the Plan was formally signed last week by Hon. Minister Job Sam Andy and Director General Bermans Iati.

The Corporate Plan will serve as the roadmap for MYJCS and its agencies, guiding their priorities, programmes and activities while ensuring they contribute to the relevant pillars of NSDP 2030 – The People’s Plan.

It marks a renewed commitment to good governance, accountability, stronger coordination and better services for the people of Vanuatu.

MYJCS acknowledges the support of the Vanuatu-Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) and the Public Service Commission (PSC) throughout the review and validation process.

🚨FIGTHING CORRUPTION STARTS WITH ACTION

Today, Vanuatu took another important step towards finalising the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Policy (NIACP) through a validation workshop bringing together government agencies, development partners, civil society organisations and key stakeholders.

Opening the workshop, Hon. Job Sam Andy, Minister of Youth, Justice and Community Services, reaffirmed the Government's commitment to strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability across the country.

The workshop provides an opportunity for stakeholders to review and validate the draft policy, ensuring it is practical, effective and aligned with Vanuatu's national development priorities.

"The fight against corruption is not the responsibility of government alone. It requires the collective commitment and participation of all sectors of society," Minister Andy said.

🔍 Civil Society Plays a Key Role in Strengthening Vanuatu's Fight Against Corruption

This week Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from across Vanuatu are meeting in Port Vila to review and validate the draft National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Policy (NIACP) 2026–2030.

Their input is vital in ensuring the policy reflects the voices of communities and supports a whole-of-society approach to promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability.

The NIACP will serve as Vanuatu's first comprehensive national framework to prevent and combat corruption while strengthening public trust, protecting public resources, and supporting sustainable development.

Vanuatu’s systems for preventing corruption and recovering assets linked to corruption have been examined under a United Nations (UN) review assessing the country’s implementation of international anti-corruption standards.

"VANUATU WELCOMES UNCAC REVIEW TEAM FOR SECOND CYCLE COUNTRY VISIT"

The Government of Vanuatu has officially welcomed today representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), together with peer review experts from Argentina and Malaysia, for the Second Cycle Country Visit under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Opening the review, Minister of Justice and Community Services, Hon. Job Sam Andy, reaffirmed Vanuatu's strong commitment to transparency, integrity, and good governance, stressing that the fight against corruption remains a national priority.

This review focuses on Preventive Measures and Asset Recovery, providing an opportunity for Vanuatu to assess its progress, strengthen institutions, and identify areas for further improvement with support from international partners.

Over the coming days, government agencies and stakeholders will participate in technical discussions aimed at promoting accountability, reinforcing public trust, and advancing good governance across Vanuatu.
