H.E Nicolette's farewell reception hosted by the Ministry of the Prime Minister - Vanuatu.

As July came to a close, the BHC team gathered with sadness and gratitude for a farewell lunch hosted by Her Excellency Nicolette Brent and her husband, Karl Brent, at South Pacific Memories.

The lunch provided an opportunity for the team, and for all those who worked closely with them during Her Excellency's tenure in Vanuatu, to reflect on the many achievements, partnerships and memories created over the past three and a half years.

Her Excellency led with respect, kindness, commitment and strength, helping to deepen UK-Vanuatu partnerships through numerous projects, activities and events. We also recognise Karl's wonderful contribution to local communities through his work with the Rotary Club.

We will miss your optimistic and strategic leadership, and we will certainly miss the famous banana muffins!

Thank yiu tumas, Nicolette mo Karl long dedication mo committment e go lo team, community mo country.

It was great to see our , William Nasak, supporting Team Vanuatu at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games ! 🇻🇺🏅

William is currently studying for an MSc in Public Policy and Management, a programme comprising eight courses and a dissertation. Impressively, he has already achieved Distinctions (equivalent to A grades) in four of his courses.

His dissertation, "Coordinating Education in Emergencies in Vanuatu: Challenges of Implementation and Onward Directions," explores how coordination systems, governance structures, and institutional dynamics influence the implementation of Education in Emergencies (EiE) in disaster-prone settings such as Vanuatu.

Despite the demands of his studies and research, William has taken time to attend the Games and cheer on Team Vanuatu from across the world.

🇻🇺 Celebrating Vanuatu's 46th Independence Anniversary 🇻🇺

Today we join everyone in celebrating Vanuatu. We are pleased to share a message from His Majesty King Charles III, conveying his warm congratulations and best wishes to His Excellency President Nikenike Vurobaravu.

"Dear Mr President,

My wife and I have great pleasure in sending you and the people of The Republic of Vanuatu our heartfelt congratulations on the auspicious occasion of your Independence Day.

I reflect on, and value greatly, the strong ties and special friendship that are shared between our countries. I feel sure that our Commonwealth of Nations, of which I am so proud to be a part, will continue to draw on its remarkable diversity and inspirational young people to rise to the opportunities and challenges of our time.

The people of Vanuatu and the United Kingdom are fortunate to be connected by wide-ranging ties, including through our parliaments, education systems and love of football. The invaluable connections we enjoy and share with the wider Commonwealth family are more precious today than ever. We must nurture them for the benefit of all Commonwealth citizens, now and in the future.

I remain inspired by Vanuatu's spirit of perseverance and optimism, whether in response to natural disasters or indeed the international leadership you have shown on safeguarding the climate and the ocean.

The compassion, determination and courage shown by ni-Vanuatu, both for each other and our global environment, is something from which we can all learn, and a credit to the resilience and national pride of Vanuatu.

A huge thank you to SOS Kit Aid and the UK rugby community!

Today we were delighted to hand over 30+ boxes of rugby kit to the Vanuatu Rugby Union, supporting children, youth, women and men involved in rugby across .

SOS Kit Aid helps rugby communities around the world by collecting and redistributing quality kit to those who need it most. This donation was only possible thanks to the generosity of rugby clubs, schools and supporters across the UK. Much of the kit is new and all of it will help players get on the field, build confidence, stay active and enjoy the game.

The Vanuatu Rugby Football Union does fantastic work growing rugby and creating opportunities for communities across the country. 

To everyone who donated, collected, packed and shipped this kit: THANK YOU!! We can't wait to see it being worn on rugby fields around Vanuatu.
