PUBLIC APPEAL

The Vanuatu Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance to help identify the mother of a newborn baby girl who was found abandoned in the Erakor Half Road area on 6 August 2026.

The baby was safely rescued and is currently receiving care. The case is being investig*ted.

If you know of any woman who was recently pregnant and is no longer with a baby, particularly in the areas of;
- Erakor Bridge,
- Erakor Village
- Tuna Fishing Area
or Club Hippique.

The Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) has been actively involved in UN pre-deployment training in Australia, with officers participating in specialized five-week courses hosted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in Brisbane.
Vanuatu Participants on these five weeks training is four female and one male officer.
Thank you, AFP, for the strong Partnership.

This week, we warmly welcomed 54 police officers from across our region to the Pinkenba Hub for the official opening of the latest United Nations (UN) Pre-Deployment Training Course.

Representing Samoa, Kiribati, Fiji, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Tuvalu, Naoero, Papua New Guinea and Australia, this cohort will undertake specialised training and assessment paving the way for future deployments to UN Peace Operations 🕊️

UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and UN Police Adviser Faisal Shahkar attended the formal opening alongside Pacific police leaders and AFP representatives, highlighting the Pacific's important contribution to global peace and security.

As participants build new skills, leadership capability and international experience, the benefits flow back to the communities they serve, helping create safer, stronger and more resilient communities across the Pacific and around the world 💙🌴
