πβ¨ The Vanuatu Indigenous Land Defense Desk is pleased to announce the closing ceremony of this yearβs Kastom Skul program, taking place on October 31st, 2025, at the Emua Community! π This year, we are excited to expand our reach to include the vibrant communities of Epau and Emua, alongside our cherished Eton, Pango, and Mele villages. We invite you to join us from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for a day dedicated to celebrating our rich cultural heritage through inspiring stories, speeches from esteemed guests, certificate presentations to our diligent children, and captivating cultural displays and traditional activities.
π€ Over the past six months, children from Epau and Emua have gathered every Friday to delve into the vital aspects of their culture, including Kastom Save, Kastom Kakae, and our native languages. As we confront the pressing challenge of preserving our customs and languages, it is imperative that we empower our youth to embrace their identity and heritage. By participating in VILDD's Kastom Skul program, these children are not only connecting with their roots but also ensuring that our cherished traditions endure for generations to come. π±
π As our Program & Planning Coordinator, Amino David, aptly states, βA child succeeds in reading and writing because he/she is educated, but it is best that he knows himself first before learning English and French.β Let us unite in support of our young generation on this essential journey of cultural preservation. We warmly invite everyone to witness the incredible talent and dedication of our children. Together, let us celebrate our culture and heritage! π
