The Vanuatu Aid for Trade Management Unit (VAMU) under the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Vanuatu successfully convened the first National Trade Development Committee (NTDC) Meeting for 2026 today at CocoMoco Resort in Port Vila.

The meeting brought together representatives from Government ministries and agencies, private sector institutions, and development partners to discuss priority trade and economic issues impacting Vanuatu’s development agenda.

The NTDC remains an important national coordination platform that supports effective dialogue, strengthens inter-agency collaboration, and facilitates the implementation of national trade priorities and policy objectives. Discussions during the meeting focused on current economic challenges, trade facilitation priorities, and opportunities to strengthen sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Members were also informed that the review of the Vanuatu Trade Policy Framework is expected to be finalized during the next NTDC convening.

In light of ongoing global and regional economic pressures, including increasing trade and transportation costs, climate-related challenges, and changing international market conditions, the Government continues to prioritise measures aimed at strengthening local industries, promoting value-added production, improving market access, and enhancing regional trade cooperation.

The Government of Vanuatu remains committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses, investors, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs while advancing policies that promote economic resilience, inclusive growth, employment creation, and sustainable national development.
