Day in the Life of a Paramedic | 23:52 | Vulesebe Health Centre, Espiritu Santo 🌙

When most people are asleep, our crews are still on the job.

This call was for a mum with a high-risk pregnancy, where high blood pressure meant there was a risk of serious complications.
ProMedical does more than respond to emergencies. We work closely with health centres, clinics, aid posts and healthcare workers across Vanuatu to provide clinical support, coordinate referrals and help patients get the emergency care they need.

It's all part of ensuring no one faces a medical emergency alone—day or night.

🚑 Did you know ProMedical also provides emergency event standby services?

Last weekend, our team was on-site at the Le Pacific Trial, ready to respond if medical assistance was needed. Whether it's a sporting event, community gathering, workplace activity, or public event, having trained emergency responders on standby can make all the difference when every second counts.

By supporting ProMedical, you're helping us continue to provide vital emergency medical services across our community.

🎉 Hapi Pikinini Dei!

Today we celebrate the amazing children of Vanuatu. From ambulance tours to first aid demonstrations and hands-on learning, it's always a privilege to inspire and empower our young people.

The skills they learn today could help save a life tomorrow.

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of hosting the Allied Health and Laboratory staff from Northern Provincial Hospital for First Aid courses at our office on Red Corner.

One of the participants shared that when one of her children was only a few days old, they started choking and no help was available – except for her. It made her see how important knowing First Aid is for protecting her family. She pushed everyone in her class to do a full two minutes of CPR, telling us she wanted them all to see that it can be hard work and it’s better if everyone is trained so that they can all work together to save a life.

Good bystander CPR is a vital link in the chain of survival. Patients in cardiac arrest who get good CPR have almost double the chance of survival than patients who don’t.

The team at Allied Health and Laboratory services do incredible work, often behind the scenes – without people like them, there would be no blood transfusions (so no surgery), no blood tests, no ultrasounds or x-rays. There would be nobody to process and check prescriptions, nobody to make sure patients have nutritious food, and nobody to fix vital medical equipment when it breaks. We thank them for their hard work.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to teach them First Aid. We hope we’ll have many more chances to exchange knowledge with Northern Provincial Hospital.

International Paramedic Day

Meet the Team Part 1

07/07/2026

Today is International Paramedics Day. From all of us at the Vanuatu Emergency Services Association, we’d like to take this opportunity to recognise our team of paramedics and acknowledge the critical role they play in providing emergency care to the people of Vanuatu.

This year, we’re celebrating the different ways paramedics and first responders are able to adapt their practice, and innovate in order to meet the evolving needs of patients, delivering high-quality care in diverse, challenging, but rewarding settings and contexts.

Thank you and happy International Paramedics Day!
