In a significant milestone toward advancing educational excellence, innovation, and professional development, the Schools Division Office of Pasig City (SDO Pasig) and De La Salle University (DLSU) formally forged a strategic academic partnership through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 25, 2026, held at the Henry Sy Board Room, De La Salle University, Manila Campus.

The partnership establishes a collaborative framework to conduct a free Master Class Program for Filipino teachers in the Schools Division of Pasig City that reaffirms both institutions’ shared commitment to educational excellence, continuous professional learning, and the advancement of Filipino education. Through this initiative, public school teachers will gain access to research-based teaching strategies, innovative pedagogical approaches, and meaningful opportunities for academic engagement. The agreement specifically seeks to enhance teachers’ professional competencies, pedagogical practices, and subject-matter expertise in the teaching of Filipino in basic education.

Under the agreement, DLSU will lead the academic design and facilitation of the Master Class Program by coordinating expert speakers, developing seminar content, and providing appropriate venues for learning sessions. Meanwhile, SDO Pasig will oversee participant mobilization, communication, registration, and administrative coordination to ensure the successful participation of Filipino teachers from public schools across the division.

Representing the SDO of Pasig City in this historic undertaking were:

Dr. Henry Leen A. Magahis
Education Program Supervisor for Filipino
Curriculum Implementation Division

Dr. Candelaria M. Balmeo
Education Program Supervisor for Mathematics
Curriculum Implementation Division

Mr. Joselito E. Calios
Education Program Supervisor for English
Curriculum Implementation Division

Representing DLSU were:

Dr. Ederlina G. Nocon
Dean, The Academy

Dr. Christian P. Gopez
Assistant Dean for Research and Faculty Development
The Academy

Mr. Engelbert C. Talunton
Head of the Senior High School

Ms. Belle Beatriex M. Alemania
Master Class Director and Faculty Member, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, who also expertly facilitated the program as Master of Ceremonies.

The ceremony commenced with an invocation, audio-visual presentations, and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, setting a solemn and celebratory atmosphere for this landmark event.

In her inspirational message, Dr. Ederlina G. Nocon emphasized the transformative power of academic partnerships in shaping future-ready educators and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. This was complemented by the inspiring remarks of Mr. Joselito E. Calios, who underscored the critical role of collaborative leadership and professional learning communities in advancing quality education.

A comprehensive presentation of the program context and rationale was delivered by Dr. Henry Leen A. Magahis, who highlighted the importance of establishing meaningful and sustainable partnerships that create transformative learning opportunities for teachers and educational leaders. Subsequently, Dr. Christian P. Gopez presented the overview of the proposed Master Class program and emphasized the immediate need to provide Filipino teachers with accessible and research-informed professional development opportunities

The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marked the culmination of the program's formal proceedings. The event concluded with a fruitful discussion on partnership initiatives, collaborative programs, and future directions, paving the way for expanded opportunities in faculty development, research engagement, curriculum innovation, and educational leadership.

This partnership between the SDO Pasig and DLSU stands as a testament to the enduring belief that transformative education flourishes through collaboration, shared expertise, and a common commitment to shaping a future where every educator is empowered to lead, innovate, and inspire.

Together, SDO Pasig and DLSU reaffirm their commitment to building stronger educational communities and advancing excellence in Philippine education.
