AIR QUALITY UPDATE | 20 September 2026, 8AM
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) continues to closely monitor the air quality situation in several areas in the Philippines affected by haze.
The observed haze is possibly associated with smoke and transboundary haze from ongoing fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, which may have been transported toward the Philippines by prevailing winds.
The public is advised to:
🏠 Minimize prolonged outdoor activities, particularly in areas visibly affected by haze;
👴👧Persons sensitive to air pollution, including children, older persons, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, are advised to limit outdoor exposure and take necessary precautions;
😷 Wear a well-fitting mask, preferably an N95 or equivalent, when going outdoors in areas with noticeable haze; and
‼️ Stay updated through official advisories and air quality information from the DENR-EMB and other concerned government agencies.

EMB, Nakisa sa 2026 International Coastal Cleanup

Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng National Cleanup Month, matagumpay na lumahok ang mga opisyal at kawani ng Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) sa isinagawang 2026 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day ngayong araw sa Baseso Tondo, Manila .

Katuwang ang iba't ibang tanggapan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), pribadong sektor, at iba pang mga stakeholder, nakakolekta ang grupo ng 40 sako ng basura sa isinagawang cleanup activity.

Ang mga nakolektang basura, na may kabuuang timbang na humigit-kumulang 245 kilos, ay karamihang binubuo ng mga plastic bottle, plastic at foam food container, food wrapper, at mga lumang sapin sa paa (footwear).

Ang ICC ay isang taunang pandaigdigang hakbang na isinasagawa tuwing ikatlong linggo ng Setyembre. Nilalayon nitong linisin at panatilihin ang kaayusan ng mga baybayin, ilog, estero, at iba pang daluyan ng tubig sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan at matibay na ugnayan ng mga komunidad at iba't ibang sektor ng lipunan
