On September 11, 2001, the world witnessed the strength of the American spirit. In the face of unthinkable tragedy, everyday people became timeless heroes. First responders who ran toward danger. Passengers who stood up against terror. Innocent lives lost, but never forgotten.

Their bravery echoes through history — not only in what they did, but in what they stood for: unity, courage, and the refusal to surrender to fear. Today, we honor their memory and reaffirm what they showed us — that America’s true power lies in its people. Resolute. Compassionate. Unbreakable.

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey A. VanAntwerp, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific, shares his personal story of where he was on that fateful day. He reminds us not only to reflect on the sacrifices made, but to recognize the strength, unity, and good that can emerge from great tragedy.

SOCPAC is proud to announce the successful conclusion of 2025's iteration of the Tiger Shark exercise in Bangladesh.

Since 2009, there have been 41 iterations of the exercise, which provides an important opportunity for cooperation and partnership between United States and Bangladeshi SOF units.

This year, US Navy SEALs trained alongside Bangladesh Navy Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS) and the Bangladesh Army's Para-Commando Brigade (PCB).

Over the course of the past three weeks, the Sailors and Soldiers of these elite units trained in combat medicine, water rescue, patrolling tactics, close quarters combat, and marksmanship.

This exercise serves to strengthen the bonds between the Special Operations units of the United States and Bangladesh, and further Bangladesh's security capabilities ensuring a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Indo-Pacific.
