“A huge thank you to Indianapolis Fire Department, IMPD News, and the Marion County Metropolitan Emergency Service Agency for their efforts this week with historic flooding. I send my best wishes to anyone in the flooded areas. Please note that immediate evacuation orders are in effect for Broad Ripple and Rocky Ripple, as well as other parts of Northern Indianapolis including suburbs. Make sure if you are in these zones to follow instructions from the emergency alerts and responders. If you don’t know the depth of water on the road, turn around. It is better to be late than dead. Be safe!”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - URGENT

It has come to the attention of the Office of the Chair that our Vice Chair, Bryson Minton, has come down with health issues that while not extremely dangerous, are extremely uncomfortable. Minton will continue his duties upon release and confirmation of an official note from a physician allowing him to return to work.
Caitlin Rubeck, our Programs Director, will be taking over the role of Temporary Vice Chair of INHSD in the meantime. Any and all questions/comments from any of our posts including a Comment/Call Line should be directed to our email until further notice. Questions regarding the health issues of any of our members will not be addressed.
During these trivial times, we ask for the utmost respect for Minton’s privacy, but also for patience and patience and support. If you are religious or believing at all, Minton also requests any and all prayers he can receive. Thank you.

Governor Braun has ignored students and advocates calling for stronger gun safety measures while prioritizing a bell to bell ban on cell phones. Students should never have to fear for their lives at school. Yet instead of addressing school safety and adequately investing in public education, lawmakers continue to focus on regulating students while education remains underfunded across the country.

We’re not staying silent.

We’re sending a message to Indiana and to Washington: the people most affected by these decisions deserve a voice in them. If a policy isn’t truly in students’ best interests, we’ll speak out and demand better.

You don’t have to be a Democrat or even a high school student to stand with us. You just have to show up.

📍 Join us on the south steps of the Indiana State Capitol at 5:00 PM ET.

We’re excited to announce our first special guest: Blythe Potter for IN

Be sure to fill out the RSVP located here so we know you’re coming, if you can’t find it please DM this account!

Here is a quick breakdown of the Supreme Court’s four major rulings👇
    •    Monsanto Co. v. Durnell: The Court decided that federal law preempts state laws, meaning people cannot sue weedkiller manufacturers in state courts for failing to include cancer warnings on labels that the EPA already approved.
    •    Wolford v. Lopez: The Court ruled that states cannot pass broad bans preventing licensed concealed-carry permit holders from bringing handguns into publicly accessible private businesses (like shops or restaurants) unless the property owner explicitly bans them.
    •    Mullin v. Al Otro Lado: The Court upheld the government’s border “metering” policy, ruling that asylum seekers waiting on the Mexican side of the border have not officially “arrived in the United States” and are not entitled to immediate inspection or asylum processing.
    •    Mullin v. Does: The Court ruled that federal law strips courts of the power to hear lawsuits challenging the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), allowing the government to end protections for hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals even if it made procedural errors.

Four years ago, the landscape of reproductive freedom shifted dramatically. On June 24, 2022, five Supreme Court Justices—Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett—voted to strip away nearly fifty years of constitutional protections by overturning Roe v. Wade. Today, we look back at the moment that fundamentally altered reproductive healthcare access accords the country and the ongoing, nationwide battle for abortion rights that continues.
