☕ Housing & Coffee, tomorrow on Friday 10 to 11 AM at the Seniors Hall.

This week's theme: aging in place. What would it take to grow old right here in Kaslo, in a home that works for you? Come share what matters most, downsizing, mobility, care options, staying close to community, and help shape how we think about housing for every stage of life.

All ages welcome. The best ideas come from mixing generations.

$3 coffee and a bake, proceeds to the Seniors Society. See you there!

Housing Friday: What Can We Learn from European Villages?
Join us tomorrow at 10AM at the Seniors Centre.

European villages have spent centuries figuring out how to house people well: walkable streets, shared courtyards and gardens, homes built to last, different generations living side by side.

What worked there, and what do we want to see here in Kaslo? Bring your ideas, this is an open conversation. Coffee & snacks by donation.

Everyone welcome.

The tools exist. The time is now.

RBC just released a major report confirming what we already know: Modern Methods of Construction can build homes up to 50% faster and 40% cheaper. The technology is proven in the Kootenays. The economic case is sound. What's needed is coordinated action.

We'd love to bring local builders, tradespeople, investors, and future residents into the conversation.

The Kaslo Housing Society including chair Kathie Hanson joined regional organizations at the Housing Symposium in Nelson yesterday. Our own Erika Bird delivered a wonderful presentation on Penny Lane Apartments and Kaslo's projects, and Jean-Marc LaFlamme was there capturing content on housing innovation happening across the region. We are excited to co-create locally and regionally with all the community champions working toward real solutions. The Kootenays has everything it needs to solve the cost of living crisis and days like yesterday make it clear that deeper support and serious traction are within reach. Thank you to everyone who showed up and trying hardest!

KHS is hiring an Executive Director. Part-time, flexible, community-rooted. Real work, real impact.

Details: https://kaslohousingsociety.org/ed/

Please share widely and let's find a real solution to housing and cost of living in this region. We're a small but mighty housing society with big ambitions, and we're looking to collaborate across the Kootenays on serious innovation.
