Have you always wanted to work in a Washington State Ferry engine room? Well good news! We are so excited to announce our scholarship program to help cover the tuition for Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) credential is now open! We will keep this open until we’ve spent all available funding.

Applicants do need to:

Have a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Have a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) – Or can show they have applied.
Be a Washington State Resident
Explain a financial or other hardship/barrier (self-attestation only)

At last night’s meeting, the City Council banned feeding wild animals and birds to deal with the negative effects of concentrating animals around feeding sites. (Traditional backyard bird feeders are not prohibited.) More at https://www.anacorteswa.gov/Blog.aspx?IID=4
