Environment Protection Authority Victoria Helping Victorians protect their community from pollution and waste. Recycling Victoria joined EPA on 30 June 2026.

This expands our role in waste, recycling and the shift to a circular economy. Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA Victoria) sets and enforces environmental standards and strives to achieve clean air, healthy waterways, safe land and minimal disturbances from noise and odour for Victorians. Established in 1971, EPA is part of the Victorian Government's environment portfolio along with t

A 70m long burn site told the story. Waste tyres, treated timbers, chemical drums.

When not safely and lawfully disposed, these leach chemicals into soil and groundwater.
Illegally burning or burying farm waste has serious consequences.

Help us protect our community and environment. If you spot rubbish being buried, burned or dumped, don’t look away.

Yarra Watch and Warrandyte is rated Good. Healesville is rated Fair. Kew, and Launching Place are rated Poor.
What do Good, Fair, and Poor mean?
• Good predicts that recreational water quality is suitable for swimming
• Fair means that recreational water quality is good but could be affected by rainfall particularly if the beach is close to a stormwater outlet
• Poor is a warning which means you should avoid contact with the water
