County Executive David Crowley David Crowley is the Milwaukee County Executive. Growing up in a working-class family in Milwaukee’s 53206 neighborhood, David was no stranger to hardship.

As a lifelong Milwaukee resident, County Executive David Crowley knows as well as anyone that Milwaukee County is truly a tale of two counties. He has lived the pain and struggle that many in our communities face every day, and he knows the joy of bringing people together to conquer those struggles. The fundamental tenet of Executive Crowley’s administration is to build bridges to bring people tog

ether, not walls that keep them apart. As a child, David’s family moved around frequently, often as a result of evictions. He lived in a home with multiple family members who suffered from mental illness and drug addiction, and saw first-hand the impact that these issues have on our community. This is personal to David. David credits the Milwaukee youth organization Urban Underground for saving his life. He found a support network and a community of people that cared about him, and helped guide him to public service. While still in high school, David served as a community justice coordinator with Urban Underground, giving him his start in community organizing. He joined AmeriCorps when he turned 18, and worked with several other community organizations including Project Return, Safe & Sound Inc., and COA Youth and Family Centers. David also worked as a legislative aide for the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and the Wisconsin State Senate. David was motivated by the public servants around him to forge his own path in elected service, and was chosen by the 60,000 citizens of the 17th Assembly District to represent them in the Wisconsin State Legislature in Madison. In two terms in the Assembly, David sat on the Energy and Utilities, State Affairs, Workforce Development and Transportation committees and was the ranking member on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. He served as the chair of the Milwaukee Delegation, the chair of the Black Caucus, and the co-chair of the Black and Latino Caucus. He also served on the Boards of Directors of both the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) and the Outreach Community Health Centers (OCHC). David is a member of numerous community organizations including the ACLU, Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals and the Milwaukee NAACP. He attended Bay View High School, UW-Milwaukee and currently lives in Milwaukee with his wife, Ericka, and his three young daughters. He was elected to serve as Milwaukee County Executive on April 7, 2020 and was sworn on May 4, 2020.

President Trump’s war in Iran is driving up gas prices for Wisconsinites, but the damage doesn't stop at the pump. Rising fuel costs also put strain on the essential services that taxpayers rely on, pushing local governments across the state toward growing budget deficits.

Highway maintenance crews, sheriff patrols, and park rangers all run on fuel, and every additional dollar spent filling tanks is a dollar taken away from the services our community needs. While my administration is working to reduce fuel use wherever we can without impacting service delivery, that alone is not enough.

Wisconsin taxpayers should not be forced to bear the burden of decisions being made in Washington. President Trump must take this affordability crisis seriously and address rising prices before working families and the governments that serve them are left holding the bill.

The war in Iran has raised fuel costs for Milwaukee County. Some departments may have to reduce services to cover the difference.

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and here in Milwaukee County, we are united in saying: enough is enough.

Gun violence is a public health crisis that affects too many families, too many neighborhoods, and too many lives. That’s why my administration is strengthening community-based violence prevention programs, expanding access to mental and behavioral health services, and investing in youth engagement efforts to create positive opportunities for young people.

Together, let’s recommit ourselves to the work ahead: building a safer, healthier, and more united Milwaukee County—where every person can live free from gun violence.

June is Dairy Month, and I want the rest of Wisconsin to know that Milwaukee County has the dairy industry’s back! 🐄🥛🐄🥛

Wisconsin’s dairy industry has shaped the cultural, economic, and agricultural heritage of our state. The dairy farmers, processors, cheesemakers, veterinarians, haulers, workers, and agricultural professionals across the Badger State contribute significantly to the vitality of local communities and the overall strength of Wisconsin’s economy.

To celebrate Dairy Month, I visited the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Family Farm octagonal barn, where guests can visit five varieties of dairy cattle and explore the past, present, and future of Wisconsin’s dairy industry. I also had the opportunity to tour the brand new Dairy Cow Yard – a zoo-wide effort to build ample outdoor space for our dairy cows – and got to milk Sadie, a Black & White Holstein.

This month, let’s recognize the contributions of Wisconsin’s dairy industry and celebrate the farmers, workers, and communities who carry this proud, enduring tradition forward.

It was inspiring to see so many Milwaukee County residents come together at the annual Pride Parade to celebrate love, embrace inclusion, and support the LGBTQIA+ community that enriches our county every day.

Pride is about honoring those who fought for equality, uplifting those who continue that work today, and reaffirming that everyone deserves to live authentically and safely.

Milwaukee County is committed to building a community where every resident feels welcomed, valued, and respected. Happy Pride Month, and thank you to everyone who helped make yesterday's celebration so special!
