Honoured and privilege to assume the Presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The trust and confidence placed in Algeria, and in my humble person, by the African Group and all Member States, is deeply appreciated. This trust reflects Algeria’s steadfast commitment, under the leadership and guidance of His Excellency Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, to multilateralism, international cooperation, and solidarity. As President of , I accept this responsibility that I intend to carry resolutely throughout my tenure.

In my opening statement at the Ministerial Segment of the , I called on the international community to make the remaining years to 2030 a delivery cycle - not another reporting cycle. The remain our shared blueprint for ending poverty, reducing inequalities, protecting our planet, and restoring hope through international cooperation. History will judge us not by our speeches, but by the choices we make to accelerate action, strengthen solidarity, and deliver better together for all.

Today marks the opening of the ministerial segment of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development ( 2026), bringing together ministers and leaders from around the world to accelerate action on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the theme, "Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for a sustainable future for all," the next three days will focus on advancing solutions that leave no one behind.
