We are now at the beginning of The Bush Fire Danger Period. This is the peak season when warm temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation significantly increase the risk of rapid, uncontrollable wildfires.

The permit system during this period ensures burns are conducted safely under controlled conditions, protecting your home, family, and our community.

If you are planning any burning activities on your property, take note of the following.

Fire Permits are MANDATORY: A permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period in RFS districts, and at all times in Fire and Rescue NSW districts statewide.

Permits are FREE & Easy to Get:
🔺In a Rural Fire District? Apply online via the RFS website.
🔺In a Fire and Rescue NSW District? Apply via the Fire and Rescue NSW website.

Always Notify Us Before Lighting Up: Even with a permit, you must notify us before you start burning. Submit your burn notification using our online form.

Additional rules may apply, including temporary weather related fire bans.

❗️Heavy Penalties Apply: Failing to secure a permit or ignoring restriction rules carries serious fines.

Apply for a permit and log your burn notification here:

🚔 RBTs Pack Up. We Don't. 🚔

This afternoon in Glenhaven, our officers packed up and drove away from an RBT site at the end of the operation.

Unfortunately, one motorist couldn't say the same.

The driver was stopped during the operation, returned a positive roadside breath test and was subsequently conveyed by police to the station, where further analysis resulted in them being charged with drink driving.

Earlier this morning at about 7.30am, another driver was stopped at an RBT site on Old Northern Road, Castle Hill. Following roadside testing and subsequent analysis, the female driver was also arrested and charged with mid-range drink driving.

As many people head away for the long weekend, remember that police will be conducting high-visibility road policing operations across the district. If you're thinking about taking a chance after drinking, think again.

The odds of being caught drink driving this long weekend are doubled.

Every drink driver detected is a risk to themselves, their passengers and everyone else using our roads.

Plan ahead. Organise a designated driver. Catch a taxi or rideshare. Stay the night.

Don't risk your licence. Don't risk a criminal record. Most importantly, don't risk a life.
