Thank you to the Mayor and council staff for the meaningful discussions on strengthening the relationship between our countries, and the impact Vincentians make in Northern Ireland, exploring opportunities for cooperation, cultural exchange, and community development. Together, we can build stronger connections that benefit our communities and future generations.

🌍 Strengthening International Connections 🤝

This morning, I had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Christopher Stange, Consul General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Northern Ireland, to the Mayor's Parlour.

We had a productive and engaging meeting, discussing the existing links between Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while also exploring opportunities to strengthen our relationship and develop new areas of cooperation for the future.

Building international partnerships with Commonwealth countries helps create new opportunities, encourages cultural understanding, and strengthens connections that benefit our communities.

Consul General 🇻🇨 Dr Stange attended the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Cllr. Róis-Máire Donnelly “Heart of the City” event & Queen’s University Banquet for the launch of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, in celebration of Irish music and culture which will take place over this week in Belfast.

I join the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines and the wider Caribbean in mourning the passing of Sir Garfield Sobers.

Sir Garfield was one of cricket’s greatest players. He was a Caribbean icon whose excellence, humility and love for the game inspired generations across our region and the world.

His legacy extends far beyond cricket. It will continue to inspire generations to come.

On behalf of the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines, I extend sincere condolences to his family, the Government and people of Barbados, and the wider Caribbean cricketing community.

Rest in peace, Sir Garfield. Thank you for the inspiration and the enduring legacy you leave behind. 🕊️🏏
