GASE亮點實驗室 - 國立清華大學前瞻量子科技研究中心

量子科技是驅動下一世代產業變革的重要科技，國立清華大學前瞻量子科技研究中心成功使用「光子」，完成國內首次戶外量子加密通訊測試，建立臺灣第一個量子通訊網路。

清大前瞻量子科技研究中心主持人、物理系教授牟中瑜接受科技部全球事務與科學發展中心專訪，暢談量子科技這項新顯學以及中心成員的亮眼研究成果。

Quantum technology is considered the key to the next generation of technology. The Center for Quantum Technology (CQT) in National Tsing Hua University has successfully utilized “photons” to complete the first outdoor quantum encryption communication test in Taiwan and established the first local quantum communication network based on the test.

Chung-Yu Mou, the director of CQT and professor of the Department of Physics, was interviewed by the MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement, during which he openly discussed novel subjects of quantum technology as well as outstanding research achievements of the members in CQT.

【GASE亮點實驗室】
中山大學氣膠中心－亞洲唯一 助力防疫護空品

冠疫情進入第二年，全球各地仍面臨著疫情威脅，國立中山大學「氣膠科學研究中心」主任王家蓁與美國、以色列氣膠學者發表研究論文，點出「氣膠」是傳播新冠肺炎的主要途徑，而非過去認知的飛沫或接觸傳播，這篇論文刊登於國際權威期刊《科學》（Science），中心團隊更設計了氣膠科普漫畫，目前已被許多國家研究者翻譯成二十種語言，在社群媒體熱烈轉傳。

中山大學氣膠科學研究中心是全亞洲唯一一所，以「氣膠」為研究主軸的中心，中心主任王家蓁接受科技部全球事務與科學發展中心專訪，介紹氣膠對環境和人體健康的影響，以及呼吸道病毒透過氣膠形式在空氣中傳播的科學證據。

With the COVID-19 pandemic now in its second year, the entire world remains under threat. Director Chia C. Wang of National Sun Yat-sen University’s Aerosol Science Research Center, alongside aerosol scholars from the United States and Israel, jointly published a research paper that pointed out how aerosols are the main way through which COVID-19 is spread, rather than through droplets or contact transmission as previously believed. This paper has been published in the internationally authoritative journal , Science. The team from the research center also designed a popular science aerosol comic book that has been translated into 20 languages by researchers from many countries, and has received great feedback on social media.

National Sun Yat-sen University's Aerosol Science Research Center is the only research center in Asia that focuses on aerosols. The director of the center, Chia C. Wang, sat for an exclusive interview with the MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement, in which she introduced the effects of aerosols on the environment and human health, and scientific evidence on how respiratory viruses are transmitted in the air through aerosols.

TCI Co., Ltd. has long paid attention to climate change issues and is the first company in Taiwan invited to join the RE100 global renewable energy initiative. It is also the first company in Taiwan to complete renewable energy procurement in 2020, and will achieve the goal of 100% renewable energy utilization by 2030. TCI Chairman Vincent Lin sat for an exclusive interview with the MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement and shared how he leads more than a thousand employees to incorporate sustainability and recycling into the blueprint of the company’s development.

我們今天跟 #歐洲在臺商務協會低碳倡議行動、 國立臺灣大學 National Taiwan University 共同舉辦的科技能力講座大成功！

講座由 歐洲在臺商務協會 European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan - ECCT 🇪🇺副理事長尹容 與國立臺灣大學教務長丁詩同代表致詞，更有30 多名企業代表、全台高中職、大專院校學生約200人參加。

尹容副理事長表示低碳倡議行動從成立之初只有4個會員，現在已經多達85個會員，更有許多公司正在排隊加入，也非常希望在座有更多 #年輕人 一起追求 #永續發展 目標。

丁詩同教務長也解釋科技能力講座延續科技女力講座，除了想彰顯能力才是關鍵，而非性別；另一方面也說明了這次 #永續 🌱主題與 #能源🔋 的關聯。

MOST GASE x ECCT LCI successfully wrapped up the Green-in Tech event!

The opening remark was delivered by Mr. Giuseppe Izzo, Vice Chairman of European Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Shih-Torng Ding, Vice President for Academic Affairs of National Taiwan University. There were around 200 audience members, including 30+ representatives from industry and students from universities and high school all over Taiwan.

Vice Chairman Izzo said that ECCT LCI had only 4 members at first, and now has 85 members, with more companies waiting in line to join in. He sincerely encouraged more young talents present today to pursue SDGs.

Vice President Ding also explained that the Green in Tech event is a continuation of Women in Tech. This time, the topic of energy was highlighted instead of the gender.

The event was moderated by Dr. Hsiao-Wei Yuan, Director of MOST GASE and Vice President for International Affairs of National Taiwan University. Mr. Bart Linssen, Managing Director of ENERCON Taiwan, Mr. Jay Mao, Chairman of Michelin Taiwan Tire, Ms, Jennifer Wang, Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland, and Mr. Andy Wu, Chargé de Mission of Air Liquide, were the panelists sharing their personal learning experiences, as well as sustainable technology and talent developments of their company.

Andy Wu is currently Chargé de mission of Air Liquide, where his job includes promoting energy transformation and hydrogen energy development in Taiwan.

Andy holds an MBA from Harvard University and USC Marshall School of Business, and has many years of practical experience in the consulting industry from his time at Silicon Valley. He is responsible for strategic planning and special projects, as well as promoting the development of low-carbon hydrogen energy ecosystems in Taiwan's industrial and transportation sectors in line with the sustainable development of the company headquarters in France.

As the world's leading industrial gas manufacturer, Air Liquide Far Eastern Ltd. is the largest French manufacturer in Taiwan. It set up the world's first ultra-pure, low-carbon hydrogen electrolyzer plant in Tainan to reduce the carbon emissions of the semiconductor industry, which has a high concentration of hydrogen demand.

Jay Mao graduated with an MBA from St. John's University in New York and has been working in Michelin for nearly 30 years, serving as head of finance, credit, logistics, information management and sales for different product lines. 黎森 (Bart Linssen）， 台灣艾納康有限公司 ENERCON Taiwan Ltd. 董事總經理，他來自風車的故鄉——荷蘭🇳🇱，在臺灣打造了風機王國。

他曾在荷蘭的不斷電系統製造商服務六年，並被派任到臺灣。進入艾納康子公司 #德商風電能源 (Solvent GmbH) 後擔任服務經理，負責該公司全臺風機的服務與修繕，德商風電能源於2017年更名為台灣艾納康後即擔任董事總經理至今。

艾納康的取名「 」來自 #能量 (energy) 與 #轉換器 (convertor) 兩個單字的縮寫，透過 #發電渦輪 將 #風力 🌀轉換為 #電力🔋，不僅是臺灣陸域風機市占率最高之企業，也是德國最大風機製造商。

MOST GASE X ECCT LCI Green in Tech - Introduction to the Speakers EP.1

Mr. Bart Linssen, Managing Director at ENERCON Taiwan, is originally from the Netherlands - also known as the ‘home of the windmills’, and has built a wind turbine kingdom in Taiwan.

He worked at a Dutch manufacturer of continuous power systems for six years and was then assigned to Taiwan. After joining ENERCON’s subsidiary Solvent GmbH as Service Manager, Mr. Linssen was responsible for the service and repair of all of the company’s wind turbines in Taiwan. Mr. Linssen has been Managing Director of ENERCON since 2017, the same time the company changed its name to ENERCON.

The name “ENERCON” is the combination of the words “energy” and “converter”, which symbolises wind power being converted into electricity by means of a turbine. It is not only the company with the largest market share of Taiwan’s land-based wind turbines, but also the largest wind turbine manufacturer in Germany.

#逢甲大學 #物聯網暨資訊安全實驗室 資料隱私處理晶片 獨步全球新技術

隨著歐盟制定《一般資料保護條例》（General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR）被普遍採用，從事匯整和資料分析的企業與公司，無不開始重視資料去識別化。 逢甲大學 Feng Chia University「物聯網暨資訊安全實驗室」與 國立臺灣大學 National Taiwan University、 國立陽明交通大學 以及 鈺創科技 Etron Technology攜手合作，研發領先全球的 #隱私處理晶片技術，可兼顧 #資料隱私🔐 及 #數據統計📊，未來導入 #智慧家電🔌 等各類裝置，有望打入重視個資保護的歐美市場。

【Feng Chia University’s IoT and Information Security Lab – A Data Privacy Processing Chip Based on World-Leading Technology】

With the adoption of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by countries around the world, enterprises and companies engaged in data collection and analysis have begun to attach great importance to data de-identification. In light of this, the IoT and Information Security Lab at Feng Chia University (FCU) has collaborated with National Taiwan University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and Etron Technology to develop a privacy data processing chip based on world-leading technology, allowing users to perform data statistics while maintaining the required data privacy. The device will be incorporated into smart home appliances in the future, with an eye to entering the European and American markets that place great value to personal data protection.

FCU’s IoT and Information Security Lab was established seven years ago. They have developed a wide variety of data encryption, decryption, and de-identification technologies through using software/hardware systems, thus protecting big data of IoT (Internet of Things) while putting the protected data to practical use. The head of the Laboratory and associate professor of the Department of Communications Engineering, Yao-Tung Tsou, sat for an exclusive interview with the MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement to share some of the Lab’s research highlights.

Special Interview with Tim Hsu Association of Hackers in Taiwan Reverses Stereotypes and Promotes Cyber Security Awareness

When it comes to “hackers,” the popular stereotype is that they steal information, filch money, and do other illegal acts. However, many hackers are also a positive force for network security. The Association of Hackers in Taiwan is committed to promoting cyber security awareness. The annual Hacks in Taiwan Conference (HITCON) is the largest hacker and cyber security technology seminar in Taiwan, and it is widely known in the global cyber security community.
