In 1965 when Wes Morrison's grandfather managed Cape Canaveral‘s first grocery stores, “Storekeeper by the Sea”, he had no idea that one day his grandson would serve on the local City Council and become Mayor. He grew up in Brevard County as a child of the Space Program & went to Titusville High School, where he first met his wife Christina. Coming from humble beginnings, Mayor Morrison worked har
d to get into Florida State where he majored in Political Science & minored in Business Administration. He became the first in the Morrison family to graduate from college. Now at 38 years of age, he works professionally in the renewable energy industry & in their free time the Morrisons enjoy biking, fishing, & daughter Parker loves to surf at our beautiful beach. Prior to becoming Mayor, Wes Morrison was elected twice on our City Council and served for four years. He also serves on the Community Redevelopment Agency Board. Mayor Morrison volunteers to help with free meals, hurricane recovery, sea oat planting, & Keep Brevard Beautiful cleanups. He supports Cape View Elementary & other local schools, first responders, suicide prevention, & our Veterans. He is an avid outdoorsman and was appointed to the Florida League of Cities’ Utilities, Natural Resources, and Public Works Committee for his commitment to resource management. Mayor Morrison takes citizen concerns seriously by actively seeking input from the residents. He strives to work with the other members of Council to prioritize the highest issues including: dangerous A1A, flooding, the Lagoon, bikeable & walkable roads, street lights, & addressing blighted, run-down properties. With experience in renewable energy, he understands the importance of preserving our natural resources & reducing rising electric costs/grid dependency to strengthen our City to weather the storms ahead. Mayor Wes Morrison was elected in 2021 to serve a three-year term.
