This week, the German Consulate General New York welcomed Holocaust survivors to its annual reception, honoring their resilience and ensuring that their voices remain heard. This gathering underscores Germany’s steadfast commitment to remembrance, education, and the fight against antisemitism—a responsibility we owe to future generations.

By preserving the memories of the Shoah and supporting initiatives that foster learning, we aim to uphold the values of dignity and respect, even in challenging times. Let us honor lives lost, celebrate the strength of survivors, and strive to keep the lessons of history alive

🤔What do Düsseldorf and the American Revolution have in common? Well, one of its most iconic images “Washington Crossing the Delaware” was actually painted in Düsseldorf, by the German-American artist Emanuel Leutze.

Inspired by the American Revolution during the European movements in 1848, Leutze’s painting shows not only an American story but is also a symbol of transatlantic collaboration.

We were honored to participate in the annual Flanders Fields Memorial at Clinton DeWitt War Memorial Park. 🌹

This ceremony reminds us that peace is not passive – it is a choice, a shared responsibility, and a common endeavor. It also reflects the strong transatlantic ties between Europe and the US, forged during the Great War and standing firm to this day. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇸

The event also highlighted the importance of alliances, from the European Union as a modern peace project to NATO, headquartered in Belgium, ensuring collective security and transatlantic solidarity for the future.

Remembrance looks back – but it also looks forward. Today, as the war in Ukraine is ongoing, the lessons of history remind us that unity and solidarity are never optional. Together, we honor those who came before us and commit to a safer, stronger world for tomorrow.

DSD meets DOE! 🇩🇪🏫🇺🇸

Brooklyn Technical High School has officially been licensed by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), in cooperation with the German Consulate General in New York, to offer the German Language Diploma DSD II.

With nearly 6,000 students and over 300 teachers, Brooklyn Tech is the largest in-person public high school in the United States and a renowned specialized STEM school known for its academic excellence and strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The DSD II (B2/C1 level) enables direct access to German universities—making Germany an increasingly attractive destination for STEM studies, with top-ranked institutions and no tuition fees at most public universities.

We are proud to support this important step in expanding German language education and strengthening transatlantic academic exchange.
