New Ulm Fire Department

The New Ulm Fire Department was established in 1870. We are proud to be celebrating our 150th Anniversary in 2020. NUFD currently has 39 active members.

NUFD serves the New Ulm area and it's surrounding communities by responding to an average of 120 calls per year. In addition to fire calls, their volunteer services are given to community activities such as Fire Prevention Education within the schools and businesses, Brown County Fairground events, hill climbs, controlled burns and mutual aid to other communities.

Several firefighters participated in the Career Expo at the Civic Center today; sharing information, demonstrating equipment & offering firsthand experiences with area high school students. Serving as a firefighter can be a rewarding path to explore!

The Network New Ulm Youth program visited the station today to learn about the fire service, what it takes to be a firefighter, our gear & equipment, and the history of the department. We enjoyed showing them around the station & we hope to see some of you in turnout gear again someday!

Congratulations to Levi Zinniel & Braden Zimmerman who were honored at an Induction Ceremony this evening. They earned their NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II Certifications and are official members of the New Ulm Fire Department.
