Last 3 Hours to Vote!

Vote Mel for PNCC because It's Time for a Change!

I’m running for a council that listens, cares, and acts responsibly. This city is OURS, and together, we can make it work better for everyone. Here’s why you should vote for me today:

A More Car Community Friendly Council:
I’ll ensure our community is built with families and drivers in mind.

Support for Veggie Gardens & Fruit Trees:
I believe in sustainable living! I’ll push for more local food initiatives like veggie gardens and fruit trees, with education on how to grow your own.

Transparency in Council Decisions:

No more backroom deals! I’ll fight for transparency and make sure we all know what’s going on in the council.

No More Unnecessary Rate Hikes:
We need to stop wasting money on ridiculous ideas and keep rates where they are. I’ll work to reduce unnecessary spending and make sure our tax dollars go where they matter.

Stop the Nonsense Ideas:
Featherston Street should have never been considered. I’ll stop frivolous projects that waste time and money.

Focus on Reducing Council Debt:
Our future depends on reducing debt. I’ll push for sensible spending and prioritize paying down what we owe.

Focus on Essentials:
It’s time to focus on what really matters for our city. If it’s a “nice-to-have,” we don’t need it now.

Vote Mel for PNCC! For a responsible, transparent, and sustainable future!
You deserve a council that works for YOU, not for big ideas, personal agendas or big spending. Let’s make it happen today!

Hurry, there are only 3 hours left to cast your vote! Let’s take this city in the right direction!

Without your vote I can’t do it, lesssss gooo palmy!

Not Enrolled Yet? It’s Not Too Late to Have Your Voice Heard!

Hey, Palmerston North! If you’re not enrolled to vote yet, don’t worry there’s still time, and it’s super easy!

Whether you care about local issues or just want to have a say in what happens in our city, this is your chance.

Here’s how to do it:

Pop into the PNCC office (the ugly building on the square).

Let them know you want to enroll and they’ll give you a form to fill out. They have a table set up for it.

Fill out the quick form they give you while there and give them back to the person on the desk.

You’ll get your voting documents and a private space to cast your vote.

No need to number all 14 candidates if you don’t want to, you can vote for as few as 1, 2, or 5. It’s your vote, your choice. Just remember to number them, not tick them! ✅

There’s 15-minute free parking right out front, so it’ll only take around 5 minutes to get it done. Easy as that!

Your voice matters, don’t miss your chance to make a difference. Let's get enrolled and have our say in Palmerston North's future!

Enrolling won’t hurt you, it doesn’t mean they send you crap you don’t want the just send you voting documents so next time it’s way easier just to do it from home!

Excited for the car event on November 1st, fingers crossed I get the all-clear to drive by then! Hope to see some of you there.

In the meantime, don’t forget, voting for PNCC closes at 12pm this Saturday.

Let’s cut through the noise (unless it’s our exhausts) and back real, everyday people not those just chasing likes or volunteering for the photo ops.
I'm all about doing what I can to support our community whether it's helping out or giving where I can, without needing to plaster it all over social media for the likes and attention!

Let's bring honesty and authenticity back into council.

Your vote matters, vote Mel for PNCC. Let’s make a real difference.

VOTE MEL FOR PNCC
(Because ignoring politics was easier when my knees didn’t creak)

Look, I haven’t always been into politics. In fact, I used to actively avoid it. I dodged potholes with youthful agility. I drank water straight from the tap without a second thought about where it came from. Stormwater? Sounded like someone else’s problem.
And the council? No idea what they even did. I thought they just removed stereos from parties and planted the odd tree!

But here’s the thing: I got older. I had kids. My eyesight went downhill, and suddenly I couldn’t swerve around the potholes like a ninja anymore. I started noticing the cracks, literally and figuratively. I realised the people in charge of "boring council stuff" were actually making decisions that directly affect my kids' future.
Different generations care about different things and now that I’m older and slightly less invincible, I care….A lot!

So no, I haven’t always cared about politics or the community. But I do now. Because we can’t just keep saying “someone should do something.” We can’t just keep telling people what we think and expecting them to agree, we’re all different so let’s have many different voices in council, but make them new voices to be heard!

Well, I am someone. And I’m doing something.
If you want real change from someone who gets it (and who can laugh at themselves too), then make the vote.

Vote Mel for PNCC.

Less BS, more common sense.
Let’s fix it before our kids have to.

4 days to go, it’s time to vote for change!

Sick of the same old councillors making the same old mistakes? So am I.

Palmy deserves better, someone who will speak up, stand strong, and fight for real change. I'm not here to play nice with the status quo. I'm here to ask the hard questions, challenge lazy thinking, and make sure your voice is heard.

If you're tired of councillors sitting quietly while our city gets left behind then vote for someone who's not afraid to make noise.

Meet the newest member of our family! 🐶

We’re thrilled to introduce our new puppy, adopted from the wonderful team at Mama Minis Pet Rescue. It’s safe to say our hearts (and our home!) just got a whole lot fuller.

As we welcome this little one into our lives, I’m also thinking about how we can support better outcomes for animals and people in our city. That’s why, if elected to Palmerston North City Council, I’ll advocate for making de-sexing dogs compulsory. It’s a vital step to reduce unwanted litters, lower shelter intake numbers, and ensure responsible pet ownership across our community.

A big thank you to Māmā Mini's for the incredible work they do and for bringing this furry joy into our lives. ❤️🐾

7 Years. Still Standing. Still Fighting.

I’ve put my name forward again for Palmerston North City Council not for power, or recognition, but because our city desperately needs real change.
I’m not new to this. I’ve been turning up year after year, because I care. I’ve balanced business, employment while self employed, family, study, and home renos and now I’m ready to give this city my full focus.

I don’t work full time so I can dedicate myself to council.

I’ll put my money where my mouth is and I’ll donate part of my councillor wages back into the community where I see it’s needed. Because this shouldn’t be about a paycheck it should be about passion.

I’m sick of a council that’s lost touch.
We need fresh, grounded voices from all walks of life not just last-minute candidates riding a wave of frustration with no long-term commitment.

If you know me, and if you trust what I stand for then please VOTE MEL for PNCC.
Because if we don’t back real people with real passion… there’s no hope left for change in Palmy.

Vote Mel for PNCC for Transparency

Transparency isn’t optional, it’s essential.
I believe every dollar of public money should be spent with care and in the open. If elected to Palmerston North City Council, one of my top priorities will be making council spending more transparent, accountable, and easy for residents to understand.

A recent example is the CBD Streetscape Upgrade project. Over $1.2 million of your money was spent on design work, only for the project to be shelved and that money written off. That’s not just disappointing and it’s unacceptable.
Ratepayers deserve better!

I want a council that:
• Sets realistic priorities, not overpromises it can’t deliver.
• Spends within its means and explains why money is being spent.
• Makes fewer confidential decisions and releases those decisions as soon as it’s legally and ethically possible.
There are some valid reasons for some matters to be discussed in confidential like commercial negotiations or privacy but too many big spending decisions have been made out of public view. That needs to change!

If elected, I’ll push for:
• Clearer reporting on spending and project outcomes.
• Stronger checks before projects move into costly design phases.
• A review of how confidential decisions are used and when they can be released.

Palmerston North needs leadership that values trust and transparency, and that starts with how we spend our money.

Let’s make it easier to follow the money and harder to waste it.

Dust Off the Old Tupperware! Let's Make Sustainable Meat Shopping Easy in Palmerston North

Let’s be real, how many of us have a cupboard or drawer full of old Tupperware that never sees the light of day? Well, it’s time to bring it back and here’s why!

If elected to Palmerston North City Council, I’ll push for a simple, practical change:
You can still buy your meat in trays if you prefer, but you’ll pay a small recycling fee to cover the cost of that plastic just like when you buy a tin of paint and pay the 25c per litre paintwise fee and can return it to store for them to dispose of. Let’s put some pressure in the big supermarket chains.

Or, you can dust off that Tupperware (yes, the one buried in the back of the cupboard!) and bring your own container to your local butcher or supermarket, saving on the extra packaging charge.

It’s a win-win:
✅ Less plastic in the landfill
✅ More sustainable choices for our community
✅ A fun way to reuse what we already have

Let’s make Palmerston North a leader in smart, sustainable living. I’m ready to make this happen and I know you are too. I have a full proposal plan already written up to take in to council with me! Let’s go palmy, making better choices and leading by example. Coz I can’t stand those meat trays and I know im not alone in this!

96% in Policy & Government test for my Massey University Health Paper 📚

I’m beyond proud to share that I’ve just completed my Policy & Government exam for my Health Paper at Massey University and I scored 96.67%!

This achievement isn’t just about the grade. It’s about the hard work, commitment, and deep understanding I’ve gained in areas that are essential for effective leadership, especially in local government.

As I run for PNCC, I want to show that I’m not only passionate about making a difference in our community, but also well-equipped with the knowledge to back it up.

Whether it's policy development, government processes, or health strategy these are all things that matter when making decisions for our city and our people.

I’ve got the smarts and the drive to make a real impact.

Let’s work together to shape a future we can all be proud of.

If We Don’t Vote, We Can’t Complain: Why Fresh Faces in Local Politics Matter!

Local decisions impact everything from our streets to our schools. But if we’re not voting, we don’t get to complain about the decisions made for us. It’s that simple.

Policy is one of the most powerful ways we can create change. But to make that happen, we need new eyes, new minds, and fresh perspectives to examine the policies that affect our daily lives.

Many of Palmerston North’s current city councillors have been in office for years. Some have served over a decade, and while experience is important, it’s time to ask: Are the policies they’ve created still the right ones for today’s needs?

We need new faces, fresh thinkers who are in tune with the issues that matter to the people living here now. From housing and transport to the environment and community safety, we deserve policies that reflect today’s challenges, not yesterday’s problems.

✅ Your vote counts. By voting for new voices, you’re voting for a change in how our city is run. Let’s get fresh perspectives in council, and let’s make sure the policies we live by are shaped by people who actually represent the community we are today and the one we want to become.

It’s not to late to have your say and it’s really easy to vote if you’re not enrolled yet.
