Week 25 was all about growth and opportunity.

Thuthuwa delivered 1,890 pillow packs of mixed lettuce and 160 bunches of mustard spinach to the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market, generating a good amount of sales.

We're also excited to welcome 45 new students to our Agriculture Skills Programme from 1 July, while 36 students at Amathuba continue their NQF Level 4 Plant Production training.

Together, we're cultivating both crops and careers. 🌱

Lerato’s journey at Rhiza began in 2019 when she enrolled in the IT Level 3 End User Computing programme, where she gained valuable technical skills and a strong foundation for her career. She later pursued a Diploma in Finance, building knowledge in financial management and accounting.

The biggest growth moment in her career was transitioning from intern to Junior Bookkeeper, which required her to take on greater responsibility, learn quickly, and apply her academic knowledge in practice. Through this, she developed confidence, attention to detail, time management, and a deeper understanding of financial processes.

Her advice is to stay committed, work hard, and be patient with your career journey. Internships and entry-level roles are valuable stepping stones, and continuous learning is essential for growth in the finance field.

Passion to Purpose

Michelle’s journey into marketing started through extramural student opportunities and volunteering. What began as small responsibilities gradually developed into a passion, eventually growing into more formal marketing roles. Through these experiences, she discovered a strong interest in branding, creative strategy, storytelling, and impact-driven marketing.

A defining moment for her was realising the power of storytelling through the smaller campaigns she worked on with her team. It showed her how thoughtful messaging can influence how people connect and respond.

Looking ahead, Michelle’s goal is to grow into brand management and customer experience, and eventually step into a strategic role focused on building meaningful, people-centred, and impact-driven brands.
