It was a pleasure to host Mia Ford, a first grader from the 30th Senate District, and one of our March is Reading Month Contest winners, at the Capitol. After spending the month diving into new stories and growing her love of reading, Mia joined us in Lansing to celebrate her achievement.

We were grateful to welcome Mia and her family and to recognize her imagination and hard work.

I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of scouts taking part in Civics Camp at the The Gerald Ford Presidential Library & Museum. Experiences like this help young people understand how our government works and why their voices matter in shaping the future of our communities.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers for creating such an engaging program and for investing in the next generation of leaders here in West Michigan.
