ACT-UP Boston Emergency Alert

300,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. depend on ADAP, (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) to get the drugs we need to stay alive. Twenty states, following the lead of Florida, where 11,000 are in danger of losing their meds when income eligibility changes from 400% of poverty income to 130% of poverty income (this disaster from the DeSantis state government came into effect March 1st and has been temporariy halted but only until June 3Oth (AIDS Health Foundation; WUSF March 13,2026) So-called blue states like Blue Rhode Island and Delaware are also enacting cutbacks, although less harsh (New York Magazine, Intelligencer, March 31, 2026)

We unequivocally condemn the proposed regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Gender‑affirming care saves lives. To deny it is to knowingly endanger trans youth, forcing them into despair and stripping them of their right to exist authentically. This is state‑sponsored cruelty, and it must be named as such.

We reject these regulations in the strongest possible terms. They are discriminatory, reckless, and morally indefensible. CMS must abandon this attack immediately. Healthcare should never be weaponized against children, and we will not stand by while trans youth are sacrificed to ideology.

Protest Rally and Picket, Friday October 15th, 4 – 6 pm at Fenway Community Health 1340 Boylston St.
Bring your picket signs, whistles, tambourines and noise makers
Fenway Community Health has decided to end services for those under the age of 19, effectively stripping out healthcare for many transgender adults. Current leaders at Fenway are casting aside certain clients who have depended on what we have always believed a truly pioneering LGBTQ Healthcare agency. This will signal more actions like this in the system. In addition, the federal government is about to completely end the Center for Disease Control (CDC) HIV and Treatment program and much of its Ryan White sections.
Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS is not going anywhere and is on the increase in Massachusetts.
New infections increased 20% in the last reporting year. MassachusettsGovernors and Legislators have cut state funding by 25% since 2006 when there are 4000 more people today than then. who needed these services ($ as measured by real purchasing power today). There are over 23,000 living with HIV/AIDS in Massachusetts, and all need help to stay alive!
