👏 THANK YOU FAIRFIELD 👏

It all comes to an end today after twelve years as the State Member for Fairfield.

This week I have dedicated my social media pages to acknowledging the people that have contributed to my parliamentary career, individuals, organisations, groups, staff and family.

I have been humbled by the calls, messages, emails and cards that have been sent recently. Thank you all.

I can’t express how much I have appreciated the heartfelt wishes sent since I announced my retirement 17th October 2022.

The Fairfield Electorate is a special place made up of champions. During my time as MP I have drawn inspiration from the people that elected me to represent them in the oldest parliament.

It has been an honour and a privilege.

Thank you Fairfield for the memories.

😘 THANK YOU TEAM FAIRFIELD 😘

Today’s post is dedicated to the engine room of the Fairfield Electorate Office, the EO team.

A member of parliament is only as good as the team working with them.

I was very fortunate to be blessed with great staff over 12 years.

Attending to the electorate duties and the shadow ministerial duties was made all the more easier due to dedication of the EO team.

The constituents of the Fairfield Electorate were fortunate to have such a caring and empathetic team willing to serve them always.

At no stage did the Fairfield Electorate Office Staff ever faulter in their service to the community.

I want to thank the EO staff for their efforts during my tenure as MP, but especially during the lockdown when the entire service model of changed due to the restrictions.

The Fairfield Electorate Office team worked above and beyond the call of duty always, as evidenced during the lockdowns working almost around the clock remotely assisting constituents facing the gravest of circumstances.

I will be eternally grateful to my current staff Stella, Jess and Katerina for their loyalty and friendship. I would also like to thank former staff members for their work during their time in the Electorate Office, thanks Omar, Mathew and George.

Thank you team Fairfield, I could not have done it without you!

Today I dedicate this post to the Fairfield Labor rank and file party members and supporters that campaigned with me during the last three terms.

I am deeply honoured to have had such hard working, committed and loyal individuals assist me during three campaigns.

No member of parliament is able to do their campaigning duties without a group of supportive rank and file members.

Rain, hail and shine I could always count on the help of these party members.

Throughout door knocking, street stalls, phone banking, letter boxing, pre-poll and on election day I could never have achieved the electoral success without these wonderful people.

Thank you.

This week is the final week of my State Parliamentary career.

Over the next five days I will be taking the time to thank and acknowledge people that have contributed to my parliamentary career.

It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the community over the past three terms (12 years).

Today I acknowledge the friendship and support of the community groups that go above and beyond in the service of those doing it tough. Every day the volunteers go out to feed, clothe and support people in need. The reality is many volunteers are finding it hard themselves to survive, however they crash through to assist others. I thank these wonderful people for their work in supporting others.

I would also like to thank the volunteers helping youth especially through sporting, cultural and artistic groups. The youth of our community need coaching and mentoring to guide them through their formative years to set them up for success in the future. I thank all coaches, managers, instructors, and teachers for your assistance in helping our youth attain both physical and mental health.

Thank you and God Bless you all!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Indie School Fairfield for their grand opening.

Indie School is a registered and accredited non-government school which provides alternative education for students aged 15-18, and focus on adult education principles such a sense of independence, choice, mutual respect and accountability.

Indie teachers change the lives of students as can be seen by student Anthea M, who gave a moving tribute to her school, teachers and fellow students in appreciation for their part in changing her life.

Indie school offers a supportive environment for students to thrive in their learning and eventual career paths.

I acknowledge Kevin Poulton, Chairperson; Principal Trish Berry and CEO Rod Wangman and thank them for their efforts for the young people of Fairfield.

☘️HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY☘️

Happy St Patrick’s Day to the Irish community in Fairfield and across the globe.

It’s a day to celebrate Ireland’s Patron Saint. The Irish diaspora is alive and well in Fairfield with the presence of the Brothers of St Patrick, the Patricians.

Today I celebrated this occasion with the Pats community along with brothers, teachers, students and parents.

Thank you to College Principal Mr Peter Wade for his kind welcome and hospitality as always.

Congratulations to the student leaders who received their 2023 leadership badges today.

Thank to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Hon. Jonathan O'Dea MP for hosting the retiring Member’s of Parliament Luncheon in the Speaker’s Dining Room.

It was an honour to be in the company of retiring MPs from all sides of the political divide. Many great stories were told by my parliamentary colleagues.

Thank you to the Speaker, and Clerk of Parliament of NSW Ms Helen Minnican for the presentation of the Certificate of Service and The 57th Parliament Legislative Assembly book.

Here are some photographs of The Good Samaritan Aid Society's new vehicle funded by the Community Building Partnership (CBP).

Food Angel is a community support service run by volunteers from the Good Samaritan Church, Wakeley, with the vehicle helping deliver food hampers.

The aim of the program is to provide a supply of grocery items at a discounted rate to members of the community doing it tough.

Thank you to the Society for their continuing dedication to helping those members of our community in need.

The Italian Australian Community Lunch was held with 600 guests in attendance at Le Montage.

The annual gathering honours the life and service of the late Father Atanasio who was a shining light for Italian migrants from the 1950s to the 2000s.

The annual event was also a celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth.

The Father Atanasio Gonelli Charitable Fund continues to honour his legacy with its fundraising and support of organisations in the areas of medical research, language instruction and elderly support to name a few.

I was deeply honoured to have been recognised by the Foundation’s President CAV. Felice Montrone OAM for my service to the community over the years. It was also a privilege to have been acknowledged alongside my parliamentary colleague Victor Dominello MP, congratulations Victor.

Melissa and I were also joined in with relatives and friends to celebrate and continue Father Atanasio legacy. Commonwealth Day 2023

It was a pleasure to join in with current and former members of Parliament of NSW, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Secretariat NSW Branch Members, Honorary Life Members and Associate Members to celebrate the annual “Commonwealth Day” in Strangers Dining.

The occasion was hosted by the President of the Legislative Council The Hon. Matthew Mason-Cox MLC and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly The Hon. Jonathan O’Dea MP in the presence of Her Excellency The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC Governor of New South Wales.

On this occasion it was the first circulation of the 2023 Commonwealth Day message from HM King Charles III, Head of the Commonwealth.

It great to be in the immediate presence of retiring MPs from the class of 2023.

As can be seen in the selfie attached to this post there is never a dull moment when Melinda Pavey is around. All the best in your retirement Mel, see you on the other side.
