The long-awaited day has arrived for the graduating Class of 2026 as Aklan State University–Makato holds its 2026 Commencement Exercises this afternoon at 5:00 PM at the ASU–Makato Event Center (AMEC), Makato, Aklan. Families, friends, faculty members, staff, alumni, and guests will gather to celebrate the achievements of graduates who have successfully completed their academic journey and are now ready to embark on new paths beyond the University.

The ASU community warmly welcomes Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), as this year's Commencement Speaker. A respected professional in engineering and higher education governance, Commissioner Apag has been actively involved in advancing quality tertiary education, innovation, and institutional development across the country. Through his leadership and advocacy, he continues to contribute to strengthening the Philippine higher education sector and preparing graduates for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

As the members of the Class of 2026 prepare to step into the next chapter of their lives, Commissioner Apag's presence brings added significance to this milestone event. His message is expected to inspire graduates to pursue excellence, remain adaptable in the face of challenges, and use their education as a tool for meaningful service and nation-building.

𝐀𝐒𝐔–𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐏𝐀𝐇𝐀𝐄-𝐆𝐀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Aklan State University–Makato conducted PAGPAHAE-GA 2026 today, May 28, 2026, at the ASU-Makato Event Center to honor and recognize students for their academic achievements, exemplary performance, and outstanding contributions throughout the academic year.

The program formally opened with a welcome message from Dr. Amelia T. Navejas, Campus Director, followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, SUC President III, who commended the students for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.

Serving as guest speaker was Dr. Carmenchita M. Tumaca, Associate Professor V, who inspired the awardees through a meaningful message emphasizing resilience, integrity, and lifelong learning as essential values in achieving success.

A significant part of the program was the recognition of Ms. Mardina P. Taglay, LPT, who brought pride and honor to Aklan State University after placing Top 7 in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). In recognition of her outstanding achievement and contribution to the university’s growing legacy of academic excellence, Ms. Taglay received a cheque and a plaque of commendation.

Service awards and special recognitions were also conferred upon graduating and non-graduating students who excelled in various fields, including leadership, student service, athletics, culture and arts, and other co-curricular engagements.

PAGPAHAE-GA 2026 reflects ASU–Makato’s continued pursuit of excellence in producing competent, resilient, and high-performing graduates who contribute meaningfully to society and bring honor to the university.

The Extension and Community Services (ECS) Unit of Aklan State University – Makato conducted a seminar on May 25-26, 2026, for nineteen (19) child development workers of the Local Government Unit of Tangalan, Aklan, at the Tangalan Sports and Cultural Center.

The activity, titled “Empowering Child Development Workers/Teachers: Growth Mindset, Socio-Emotional Learning, and Interdisciplinary Teaching in ECE,” focused on strengthening the participants’ competencies in early childhood education through discussions on growth mindset, socio-emotional learning, and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.

The seminar equipped participants with learner-centered strategies and practical teaching methods to improve classroom engagement, support children’s emotional development, and enhance the delivery of early childhood education services in their respective communities.

Serving as resource speakers and facilitators were Dr. Arvin Kim A. Arnilla, Full Professor VI; Ms. Michelle M. Bautista, MA, RPm, RPsy, CHRA; Ms. Psyche Joanne Xenethea T. Conanan, MEd, RGC; Mrs. Bea T. Masigon, MAECE-SPED; Mrs. Marianne R. Matores, MAEd-SPED; Dr. Amelia T. Navejas, Associate Professor V; Dr. Carolyn F. Salazar, Associate Professor V; Dr. Anne Cicely R. Samar, Associate Professor III; and Dr. Therese Jean A. Sarabia, Associate Professor V.

The activity reflects the continuing partnership between Aklan State University and the Local Government of Tangalan in promoting quality early childhood education and strengthening the professional development of child development workers in the municipality.
