Attention Yongsan-Casey community. The Camp Hovey Central Issue Facility (CIF) is closed from 9-12 February 2026 for 100% inventory and to convert to Soldier Equipping and Asset Management (SEAM).

SEAM is the Army’s new platform for managing Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE), replacing the Installation Support Module-Central Issue Facility (ISM-CIF). SEAM streamlines equipment management, reduces waste, and provides Soldiers and leaders near-real-time asset visibility—including appointment scheduling, record viewing, and equipment requests/turn-ins.

BENEFITS INCLUDE
• Simplified OCIE Management: Streamlines ordering, turn-in, and exchange processes.
• Global Appointment Scheduling: Offers convenient, flexible appointments at any CIF worldwide.
• Automated Updates: Automatically adjusts OCIE requirements based on duty station and mission changes.
• Enhanced Visibility: Provides near-real-time reports and unit-level asset visibility for informed decision-making.

Logistics Readiness Center-Okinawa conducted a staff ride to the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters in Tomigusuku City, Japan, Jan. 28. The tomb-like maze of tunnels that were dug out of solid rock with rudimentary hand tools and once ensconced more than 4,000 personnel during World War II. The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on the historical significance of the site and the sacrifices made during war. The experience fostered a deeper understanding of the region’s history and its impact on modern-day operations.

LTG Gavin Lawrence, the Deputy Commanding General of the Army Materiel Command, conducted a visit from January 26-28, 2026, to key logistical sites in the Indo-Pacific, including the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade and its Northeast Asia Battalion in Camp Carroll, Korea, as well as the Sagami Depot and Yokohama North Dock in Japan. The purpose of the trip was to assess the high readiness of Army Prepositioned Stocks, oversee the integration of modernized equipment, and engage with the Soldiers and civilians who execute the mission. The visit confirmed an exceptional 98 percent readiness rate for equipment at AFSBn-NEA, highlighted the robust port and watercraft capabilities essential for regional distribution, and reinforced the strength of logistical partnerships with Korean and Japanese allies. Key recommendations included sustaining investment in the expert local national workforce and continuing joint exercises to ensure credible and rapid response capability in the theater.
