Too Cool Tuesday:

With extreme heat expected in our area later this week, it’s important to stay informed so you can stay safe.

Extreme heat poses serious risks for everyone, especially older adults, children, outdoor workers, and people with underlying health conditions.

To help protect communities, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Climate and Health team created the Heat Health Alert System. This email alert service notifies you when dangerous heat is predicted in your area. From May 1 through September 30, the team monitors daily forecasts and sends alerts when the maximum heat index is expected to reach hazardous levels. Once you sign up, you’ll automatically receive alerts specific to your county.

Sign up for alerts here: https://www.dph.ncdhhs.gov/programs/epidemiology/occupational-and-environmental-epidemiology/climate-and-your-health/extreme-heat/nc-heat-health-alert-system

Stay informed. Stay safe.
