Today has been a maintenance day at Penlow; as Fridays often are, with Tom around then.

We’ve tamed the growth around the benches, most plaques (some are too flowery!) the steps into the woods and finished weeding a section of the path at the top and mostly tackled the gazebo! ✂️ Lovely as always to chat with visitors too 🤗

However, we should have been in Norfolk right now - gathering with fellow ANBG managers and attending the meeting tomorrow. It’s always a lovely and lively experience, that is well worth the travel.

The stars didn’t align for us to go in the end but they did align on something else….more on that at another time 💫💫💫

What a picture - I’ve just been mowing and taken these.
It may be the most sea I’ve ever seen from Penlow 🌊

Had a lovely message from a family just after taking the photos….’It’s one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall, possibly even England’.

I love my job - it’s far more than I ever dreamed it would be ❤️

Wonderful blues skies with early summer sun to match ☀️
Today the Penlow family grew by one as we welcomed Lynda to her new home.
The birds sang and butterflies fluttered by with the bees enjoying the beautiful flowers we sang hymns and heard of a life of adventure and travel.

O P E N • A F T E R N O O N S ….in June & July

We are going to be hosting some ‘Tea & Tour between 2 & 4’ sessions over four Saturdays and Sundays in June & July this year.

Everything is coming into bloom and looking lovely - maybe you’re curious and want to know more….maybe you don’t think it’s for you, but you need to see before you rule it out….or maybe you’ve already decided it’s what you’d like - but haven’t actually visited yet!

Now is the perfect time to visit Penlow; there is never any pressure from us or any follow up sales pitch to worry about 🤗

Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more. If you want to let us know you are coming - that’s helpful, but not a necessity.

Just a little update - we are very nearly back to having a toilet facility at Penlow…..we are just waiting on some rain!

Anyone who visits this week will see the new facility; but may find the door is locked.
Once we have enough rain water to run the toilet - normal service will resume.

I really hope that the visitors this evening saw this little bundle of fluffiness bouncing its way through the car park gate!

Whilst we see all manner of lovely wildlife at Penlow, occasionally we do get man-made things that certainly do not belong.

I retrieved a plastic flower wrapper from the compost bin today, this isn’t the first time either. On another occasion I retrieved a multiple plastic flower holder 😔

We don’t have rubbish bins at Penlow because we don’t want anyone leaving their rubbish. Unless it’s compostable - please do not put it in the compost bin! Especially the one that’s does not have a lid!

As of now the toilet facility at Penlow is not available.

We have a replacement but it cannot be installed until the office/existing toilet goes off site. This work has started; and we aim to reinstate the facility as quickly as possible - but cannot yet put a timeline on it.

So please don’t be caught short when you venture to Penlow!

A few shots from Monday on the drone and then tonight.
I wanted to mow the paths yesterday but my delightful hayfever made that impossible….so I’m very grateful to Sophia who after school offered to mow the paths for me 🤗🙏 Thank you Sophia ❤️

The carpark hedge is showing lots of new growth and even the coppiced trees are growing like mad!

We’ve got trees self seeding all over the place - plenty oaks and maple too!

This afternoon we welcomed Pat to her forever home ☀️

A glorious afternoon with blue skies and plenty of birdsong, including a hello or two from the neighbouring woodpecker!

Pat had made her decision to rest at Penlow back in 2016. With cremation being her preference; she decided to have a full plot and her own wild cherry tree 🍒

Over the years Pat has been able to visit and see photos of the cherry tree growing away and bearing fruit.
