I’m calling on the Shapiro administration to withdraw proposed Department of Health regulations reminiscent of COVID lockdown-era government policy that would infringe upon constitutional norms and civil liberties. You can join me by submitting your feedback.

Policies with such significant impacts on students, families and communities should be debated openly by the Legislature, not imposed through regulation. We learned important lessons about government overreach during COVID, and we should not repeat those mistakes.

The public can submit comments on the proposed regulations through Sept. 21 by emailing [email protected]. Please reference Rulemaking #10-242: Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases; IRRC #3490.

This morning, my staff participated in the annual Washington County Farm Bureau Legislative Tour.

The event was held at RLC Farms in Claysville. Owned by Bob and Kathy Logue-Ross, the farm is home to Maine-Anjou cattle.

They saw firsthand best management practices and a stream restoration project utilizing federal and state funding through the Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program. In addition, local, state and national issues affecting farmers were discussed.

Earlier this week, I joined some of my fellow legislators in a meeting with FBI Pittsburgh.

We were briefing on emerging threats.

Open dialogue and creating partnerships like this strengthen our understanding of the threats facing our communities and how we can help stop them.
