The Local Government Unit of Surallah under the leadership of Mayor Pedro M. Matinong Jr. and representatives from key government agencies convened in an emergency coordination meeting to address the recurrent flooding caused by heavy and continuous rainfall in the municipality.

The meeting, called immediately by Mayor Matinong focused on formulating swift, collaborative solutions to mitigate flood risks across affected areas. Presenting during the discussion was Engineer III Elmer Limpiado, who detailed the Flood Control and Drainage Master Plan of Surallah.

Mayor Matinong emphasized the urgency of securing firm commitments from all involved agencies to align municipal priorities with provincial, regional and national initiatives.

To ensure the master plan and necessary engineering interventions are executed, Matinong highlighted that the local government unit (LGU) is open to resorting to a loan to fund long-term flood management solutions, even if it requires reallocating funds or impacting other municipal programs.
