Meet Our Councillor Candidate – Gloria Marlene Japhta

Gloria Marlene Japhta is the ACDP’s Councillor Candidate for Ward 5 in Kou-Kamma Municipality.
Gloria was born in Hermanuskraal and is a proud mother of two children and grandmother of five. Her life experience, faith and years of community involvement have shaped her passion for serving families, children and vulnerable people.

After completing matric, Gloria continued to develop her skills through a number of courses, including training in social development, domestic violence and computer studies. She has also gained valuable leadership experience through her work as a supervisor in the Community Work Programme (CWP) and as a young adult leader.

Gloria has been involved in children’s ministry for 24 years, where she has dedicated herself to supporting and guiding young people. She also provides anger management counselling to children, helping them deal with emotional challenges in a positive and constructive way.
Her heart is especially for children, families and those who need support and encouragement.She believes communities become stronger when people are cared for, listened to and given the opportunity to grow.

Gloria is ready to serve the people of Ward 5 with compassion, experience and commitment.

Together, we can build stronger communities and a better Kou-Kamma.

Our Ward 3 candidate brings a strong background in community research, psychology, environmental management and environmental science.

With experience in public participation, environmental and social impact assessments, communal land research and rural development, our candidate currently works as a Business Developer in the geospatial intelligence sector.

But beyond professional experience, the greatest passion is 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

There is a firm commitment to creating opportunities for young people to realise their potential through entrepreneurship and meaningful employment, while ensuring that older persons are treated with the dignity, respect and care they deserve.
