**MOQHAKA RESIDENTS RECEIVE LONG-AWAITED TITLE DEEDS**

In a momentous occasion that brought joy to the residents of Kroonstad, the Free State Government took a significant step towards securing property rights. On the 3rd of November, 2023, Nkgono Mosele Raphuti, a 105-year-old resident, finally received a title deed for her home in Phomolong, Kroonstad.

Accompanied by her daughter-in-law, Lucia, Nkgono Raphuti patiently awaited this milestone in her life at the packed Constantia Community hall. The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, and the Premier of the Free State, Mxolisi Dukwana, were present to make this long-overdue moment official.

Minister Kubayi conveyed the good news to Nkgono Raphuti, saying, "The house is now officially yours, Nkgono." Nkgono, who sat with her walking stick, seemed bemused by the moment, but her daughter-in-law whispered in her ear, explaining the significance of the title deed. She emphasized that this would ensure that Nkgono's grandchildren could inherit the house long after she passes away.

Recognizing Nkgono's age, Minister Kubayi went the extra mile and arranged for her to receive a wheelchair, ensuring her comfort and mobility.

Nkgono Raphuti was among the 463 beneficiaries who have received their title deeds, and this is just the beginning. There are approximately 16,000 title deeds that need to be issued throughout the province, with over 2,500 already issued in the Moqhaka local municipality. The government is committed to this process, with a promise to continue issuing title deeds every Friday. This initiative aims to provide security of tenure for all citizens.

Premier Dukwana emphasized that, in addition to issuing title deeds, the development of homes will benefit the local community by creating employment opportunities. He also urged the community to stand together against any criminal elements that might seek to disrupt these planned developments in the area.

MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Ketso Makume, also attended the event and highlighted the ongoing efforts to remove asbestos roofing and mud houses across the province.

This is a significant step in ensuring that no one is left behind in the process of securing their property rights and the development of the Free State province.

🌟 Minister Thembi Nkadimeng and MEC Ketso Makume led a stakeholder engagement session on service delivery, with a specific focus on Water, Sanitation, and Electricity. This crucial event took place in Kroonstad's Moqhaka Local Municipality council chambers and saw the participation of mayors from six Free State municipalities: Matjhabeng, Dihlabeng, Setsoto, Ngwathe, Moqhaka, and Mafube.

πŸ™οΈ The gathering was not limited to government officials; it also involved representatives from various business and community sectors. Mr. Nico Palm, from the Rammulotsi/Viljoenskroon Community and Business Chamber, presented potential solutions to the prevailing service delivery challenges.

πŸ” The primary objective of this session was to comprehensively assess the status of water, sanitation, and electricity services across these municipalities. This assessment will lay the foundation for the establishment of Ministerial, Municipal, Community, and Business task teams. These teams will work collaboratively to create a program of action aimed at resolving these essential service delivery challenges.

πŸ’‘ Minister Nkadimeng emphasized the need for aligning budgets with municipality priorities, implementing infrastructure maintenance plans, and allocating sufficient resources for this purpose. She also highlighted the importance of skills development and the appointment of qualified personnel to oversee water, sanitation, and electricity services. This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to improving the lives of Free State residents and addressing service delivery issues. πŸ€πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ’§πŸ”Œ
