Om die nodige herstelwerk uit te voer, sal die watertoevoer in die volgende strate tydelik onderbreek word:

• Gedeeltes van Van der Bylstraat

UNPLANNED WATER OUTAGE: BREDASDORP

Cape Agulhas Municipality would like to inform residents that a water pipe burst has occurred in Nuwe Street, Bredasdorp.

To carry out the necessary repairs, the water supply will be temporarily interrupted in the following streets:

• Nuwe Street
• Re-Unie Street
• Hopley Street
• Portions of Van der Byl Street
• Portions of Independent Street

Estimated time of restoration: 18:00

FACT CHECK: FALSE INFORMATION CIRCULATING ABOUT CAPE AGULHAS MUNICIPALITY

A graphic currently circulating on social media falsely presents serious allegations of fraud, tender manipulation, abuse of authority, nepotism and obstruction of service delivery as allegations specifically under investigation at Cape Agulhas Municipality.

The graphic uses the name and branding of a genuine News24 article published on 4 August 2026. However, the News24 article does not identify Cape Agulhas Municipality as one of the municipalities concerned.

The article specifically reports on Beaufort West, Kannaland, Theewaterskloof and Knysna. Cape Agulhas Municipality is not listed among these four municipalities.

The fact that a genuine News24 article exists does not make the claims contained in this manipulated graphic true. The graphic has taken legitimate reporting about other municipalities and presented it as though it relates to Cape Agulhas Municipality.

'n Grafika wat tans op sosiale media versprei word, skep die valse indruk dat ernstige bewerings van bedrog, tendermanipulasie, magsmisbruik, nepotisme en belemmering van dienslewering spesifiek by Kaap Agulhas Munisipaliteit ondersoek word.

Die grafika gebruik die naam en bronverwysing van 'n egte News24-artikel wat op 4 Augustus 2026 gepubliseer is. Die News24-artikel identifiseer egter Beaufort-Wes, Kannaland, Theewaterskloof en Knysna as die vier munisipaliteite wat in die berig bespreek word. Kaap Agulhas Munisipaliteit word nie as een van hierdie vier munisipaliteite geïdentifiseer nie.

Please be advised that a planned electricity outage will affect portions of Bredasdorp on Thursday, 20 August 2026, to facilitate the upgrading and strengthening of the MV network.

•Date: Thursday, 20 August 2026
•Time: 09:00 – 17:00
•Reason: Upgrading and strengthening of the MV network

Affected areas:
Portions of Du Toit Street, Viljoen Street, Plantation Street, Unie Street, Lourens Street, Dorpsig Street, Langefontein Street, Heuningberg Street, Mooisig Street, Uitzig Apartments, as well as the Water Treatment Works (Extension 19).

Alternative Date: In the event of inclement weather, the planned outage will take place on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Residents are reminded to treat all electrical outlets as live during this period, as electricity may be restored at any time and without warning.
