SANCO BOJANALA STATEMENT ON THE OUTCOMES OF IRCC MEETING HELD AT MOGOKARE GUEST LODGE ON 25TH AND 26TH FEBRUARY 2023
Today, Sunday the 26th February 2023, SANCO is in jubilation mood after a successful meeting and community based programme at Tweelagte Ward 26 under Cllr Nkeko Letlape known as Petunia, the ward is under chieftancy of Batlhalerwa led by Kgosi Shongwane Gaositwe whom he welcomed SANCO and appreciated our courtesy visit as we formally introduced ourselves with sole aim of strengthening civic relationship with Magosi but also with each and every citizen of our region and province at large.
We were encouraged by hybrid political overview and status of the organization from both President Skhumbuzo Mpanza and General Secretary Mike Soko. President gave IRCC the matching orders and that SANCO should be rooted within its communities, where our existence is as a result of being community mouthpiece to realize the gains of democratic dispensation. General Secretary emphasized the importance of building structures and to this far Bojanala Region is doing great which all this great work should be followed by regional congress and ultimately the provincial congress. Our Office Bearers we elated by the commitment and militancy when it comes to community interests and if we are to keep in that way then we will do away with this narrative that SANCO is organization that is pocketed by individuals.
On Constitutional Requirements
Since the inception of Interim Regional Coordinating Committee, there has been some committee members who they have never able to attend even single meeting. The deployment of Interim Provincial Coordinating Committee Chair Nki Manamela and Interim Provincial Coordinating Committee Member Sherold Malatjie was to ensure that the constitution is not compromised as the programmes need fully functional warm bodies, we cannot go as business as usual but we should act as agents of change. Those who absented themselves the IRCC Secretary should write letters informing such committee members of their status with IRCC.
On Co-Option
The IRCC meeting expressed the need for co-option of members, the background behind the subject matter, was that Co-Option should not be done for the sake of co-option but rather in spirit to strengthen the structure and the organization, considering the geographical spread, capacity and gender representation. With that all Zonal Structures are afforded to look into the matter and pool of names will be submitted to secretariat.
On Membership and Roadmap To Congress
There is continuous recruitment of membership, and the IRCC welcomed the membership which shows commitment from SANCO Leaders, also where branches and members need to launch the branch they should follow the organizational process, and for branches that are about to lapse, they are encouraged to double their efforts and where there is potential to recruit and build a branch IRCC should develop urgent Programme of Action especially at Kgetleng jurisdiction as its where SANCO seem to be not active and such has potential to undermine the IRCC. The cut-off date for membership is on the 15th March 2023, and the membership audit will follow on the 18th March 2023 which the Regional Congress will take place during the month of April 2023.
On Campaigns
IRCC will embark on online voter registration campaign themed “Your Vote Is Your Voice Moagi”there will be media alerts, social media participation but the main campaing will be at Kgetleng Local Municipality and final details on host ward will be communicated.
On The 20th March Shutdown
Whilst we appreciate the rights of political parties, we also believe that they should respect the rights of the citizens enshrined in the constitution. The political parties should avoid being reckless with their inflammatory statement that no child will go to school, no employee will go to work, no shop will open and no transport is going to be allowed to transport commuters. This is nothing other than threat to hard fought constitutional democracy, it is with this background that SANCO stand on the side of community against public terror. No one has supreme rights to stand against citizens, SANCO will be on the ground to ensure that no school is desrupted, no commuters are going to be intimidated and harassed.
