PUBLIC NOTICE: CONTINUOUS THEFT OF CABLES FROM PUMP STATIONS

The community of Tswelopele Local Municipality (Hoopstad Unit) is hereby notified of the ongoing theft and vandalism of electrical cables at municipal sewer pump stations.

These criminal activities are severely affecting the municipality’s sewer infrastructure. When cables are stolen, sewer pumps become dysfunctional, preventing sewage from being pumped to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

If the theft and vandalism continue, the municipality may experience overflowing and leaking manholes, creating an unpleasant environment and posing a serious public health and environmental risk to our communities due to exposure to sewage and the associated foul smell.

The municipality therefore makes a humble but urgent appeal to all residents and community members to help protect municipal infrastructure. We urge residents to report any suspicious activities around pump stations and to refrain from tampering with or purchasing stolen municipal infrastructure.

Municipal infrastructure belongs to the community. Protecting it is everyone’s responsibility.

Let us work together to safeguard our sewer systems and protect the health, dignity and wellbeing of our communities.

Tswelopele Local Municipality
Serving our communities through responsible and sustainable service delivery.
