Mirror Monday. Is that a thing? Let us make it a thing.

Mirror Monday, where we reflect on the week that has just passed.

To start off, we had the Department of Labour assisting with the registration of job seekers on Monday 1st June.

Later in the week, Tanuka Paschke-Moloi presented "The Butterfly Effect", a music and poetry session held in the library arena.

On Saturday saw the library abuzz with a diverse collection of events. FOCAL (Friends of Central Library) hosted the Poetry circle's Open Mic Session in the Children's section of the library. In the arena, an inspirational book launch by author Samukelisiwe Msomi, titled "Victim to Victory" celebrating the two-year anniversary of her lung transplant.

Última, pero no menos importante (That's Spanish for "last, but not least"), the Saturday Spanish classes continued as usual in the training room of the library.

The Friends of Central Library present a Poetry Circle today!
From 11:00 am till 12:00 pm Special guests, Poet Zukisa "Zux" Bitiksha and the Kaapstad Poetry Anthology Authors Team will read from their collections!
Afterward, there will be an Open Mic Session where anyone can speak their truth but please be aware of time constraints!

Please join author Samukelisiwe Msomi, on June 6th 2026, as she celebrates the two-year anniversary of her bi-lateral lung transplant by launching her book, "Victim to victory", where she will be sharing her journey as well as promoting awareness of the importance of organ donation. 🤩

On Thursday 4th June, visual artist Tanika Paschke-Moloi presented a performance piece entitled, "Music and Poetry", free to the public in Central Library's Main Arena!
If you didn't attend, you missed out!! 🤩

Hello there Central Library patrons!
The Friends of Central Library Cape Town present free programs for the 6th of June 2026.
Firstly, the free job readiness program takes place from 930am to 1045am, downstairs in the Children's library, while the Scrabble Program moves to the Reference Library, taking place from 9h15am to 10h40am.
Then the Focal Poetry Circle happens from 11am to 12pm in the Children's Library.
