October is set aside as South African Pride Month to commemorate the first South African and African Pride event which took place on the 13th of October 1990.This event was led and organised by South African LGBTIQ+ activist whose contribution to our democracy remains abstracted

As members of SASCO let's continue to have safe spaces to discuss intersections of violence, get information on sexual orientations and gender identifies, find community in social events, and celebrate the immense value LGBTQ+ people offer to the entire university/college community
Let's continue to have engagements to counter and oppose manifestations of homophobia, intolerance and discrimination on campus and at residences. SASCO remains a non-sexist organization does not discriminate based on gender or sexual orientation.

Let's remember that the future is intersectional. The future is q***r, trans & inclusive of all those that don't subscribe to binaries. The fight is not just against patriarchy but all dominant systems. ❤️🖤💚💛🏳️‍🌈

Revolutionary Greetings Comrades

The Higher education and training sector is, by nature, a contested space. This means that it is a space of battle for ideas. It is against this backdrop that SASCO participates in the SRC elections whenever they take place in institutions of higher learning.

On the 5th and 6th of October 2023, SASCO Mowbray took part in the elections for the 2023/24 SRC. You gave your time, effort and resources and dedicated them to the campaign of SASCO. You left your residences and partners to go and campaign for this organisation you dearly love.

As SASCO we say thank you for your time and most importantly for voting. Thank you for believing in the students' vanguard. Thank you for everything. And we also want to encourage you to continue to support the incumbent leadership, continue to wear your t-shirts with pride. Continue to support and love SASCO.

We do not exist to win elections but to advocate and fight on behalf of students, which is what we promise to do. We promise that we will see our Manifesto through, by hook or crook.

SASCO STATEMENT ON THE STATE OF ELECTIONS

Revolutionary Greetings,
Comrades,
Friends,
Compatriots,
and fellow students.

This communique serves to outline the challenges that the elections campaign has encountered, and continues to experience, during this emotional period.

SASCO has noted, with great concern, the deliberate subbotage by the opposition of the campaign of SASCO.

There are several issues that we have noted, however, the most concerning one is the collaboration of the SDO, the Res HOD, and EFFSC. We have made our application to both the office of the DSO and Res HOD for permission to conduct Res visits as stipulated by the SRC Elections Application for Res Visits document found in the university handbook. This application has been ignored by these two offices, instead they have sent us from pillar to post.

It is for this reason that we are convinced that there are is a well occustrated POA to decampaign SASCO.

Therefore, we are saying as SASCO, if we did not visit your residence, it was not for the lack of trying but the reasons outlined above.

As SASCO we are not moved by these politricks, we are not shaken, we remain steadfast and we are saying forwards ever backwards never.
