Good work by Detectives of Manenberg
Detectives once again has proven the patience of the long arm of the Law.
Detective Constable Van Rooy has secured a 18 year direct imprisonment of Ashwin Ackerman 25 years old, for the attempted murder of a 30 year old male in Scheldt Walk.
The shooting started when the 30 year old male was standing in Scheldt walk Manenberg on the 19th March 2014 at 20:00.
Three males known to him walked in his direction. When they seemed close enough the 25 year old male pulled out a firearm and fired seral shots at him, eight cartridges were found at the scene.
Hitting him in the left leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment and the suspects were arrested the following day.
Initially a 16 year old male from Stormsriver way was also arrested. It seems as though all evidence pointed to Ashwin Ackerman 25 years old. He is a member of the Ghetto Gang formerly from the Hard Livings.
The suspects were charged in terms of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, POCA.
Brigadier Van Dyk has committed himself that the detectives, that is under the command of Colonel Johnson, at Manenberg SAPS will continue to deliver quality investigative work ensuring that all perpetrators are proccessed properly and cases before court is of high standard.
We will continue to work tirelessly around the clock to ensure that community’s faith and trust is restored holistically within Manenberg SAPS.
Ashwin Ackerman was found guilty of this offence in the Khayalitsha regional court on the 12th March 2015.
