Today, the ANCYL commemorates the historic formation of the Youth League On April 2,1944, at the Bantu Men's Social Centre in Johannesburg. A momentous occasion that set the foundation for youth activism in South Africa.

Commemorating 81 years since the historic first meeting at the Bantu Men's Social Centre on 2 April, 1944, where the then generation transformed the struggle for black emancipation from negotiation to militancy, ultimately laying the foundation for the armed struggle. The ANCYL remains committed to advancing youth activism and social justice.
