Athlone Library Athlone Library is a community library where people can come and read, study and build up knowledge, and access the internet.

Athlone District Library is a Community library opened in 1984 that gives the public access to information, literature, and internet access. It is a place where people can come and socialize and connect over books they have read, or form study groups. Throughout the year Athlone Library hosts community events where people can join in and celebrate their community as well as the country. Be on the

lookout for future events to be announced on the FB page and check out our cool and informative displays. Only New Memberships are free of charge! All you need is your ID (Birth Certificate and Parent's details for under 18's) and Proof of Address.

✨A MAGICAL & INSPIRING SESSION AT ATHLONE LIBRARY!✨

A huge thank you to author and photographer Gary Hirson for joining us for a wonderful and exciting session with our young readers! 💜

Gary introduced the children to his interactive books, including The Magic That’s Ours (ages 5–7), The Power That’s Ours (ages 10–13), and The Journey That’s Ours (ages 13–16), while sharing stories and experiences from his travels. 🌍📖

The children were also treated to a little magic trick! 🎩

✨ But most importantly, Gary encouraged them to use their imagination, think creatively and see the possibilities around them. 🌟

He even led the children through a fun imagination exercise, getting everyone involved and showing just how powerful their creativity can be! 💭✨

It was truly a fun, inspiring and memorable session, and we are incredibly grateful to Gary for giving his time and sharing his passion, creativity and love of storytelling with our children.

Thank you, Gary, for helping us remind our young readers that imagination has no limits! 💜📚✨

We are excited to welcome Cape Town-based author and photographer Gary Hirson to Athlone Library on Wednesday, 12 August at 11:30! 🎉

Gary is the author of three interactive developmental children’s books that encourage imagination, creativity, goal setting and self-belief, as well as two fascinating photographic coffee-table books celebrating the people, places and stories of Cape Town. 📖📸

During his visit, Gary will share his journey as an author and photographer and engage with our patrons through an inspiring session focused on literacy, imagination and reaching your goals. 🌟
