✨ A MAGICAL START TO FRIDAY AT LOTUS RIVER LIBRARY! ✨📚

Friday morning started with an awesome, fun-filled Library Orientation as we welcomed the wonderful children from Sticky Fingers ECD! 🥰📖

The excitement was contagious as the children received their very first library cards! 🎉💳📚 What a special milestone in their reading journey!

The little ones were introduced to the rules of the library, taught how to use their library cards, and shown the many benefits of being a library member. They were curious, excited and eager to learn! 🌈✨

And the excitement didn’t stop with the children! Their amazing educators joined in the fun and shared in their enthusiasm. ❤️

At Lotus River Library, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to discover the magic of books and develop a lifelong love for reading. 📚💕

🌸 CELEBRATING WOMEN – EMPOWERING, EQUIPPING & EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITY 🌸

On Friday, Lotus River Library had the privilege of celebrating Women’s Day at Klip Road Clinic in partnership with City Health, UCT Lung Institute and other valued stakeholders. 💜🌷

The programme was a tremendous success, with a wonderful turnout of women from both the younger and older generations. It was truly inspiring to see women coming together, connecting, sharing, and encouraging one another. 👩🏽‍🦱👩🏽‍🦳❤️

One of the highlights of the day was hearing women share their powerful and inspiring personal stories. Their courage, strength and resilience reminded us of the incredible women within our communities. 🌺

The UCT Lung Institute team generously provided refreshments, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the event. 🥪☕💐

📚 Lotus River Library also shared the important role that libraries play in our communities – to EMPOWER, EQUIP and EDUCATE. We highlighted the many resources and opportunities available at our libraries and reminded the community of the importance of library membership and making use of the services available.

A heartfelt thank you to all our partners, stakeholders, speakers and community members who contributed to making this event such a huge success. Your collaboration demonstrates what can happen when we work together to uplift and empower our communities. 🤝🏽

Little Children ECD learners had a wonderful visit to Lotus River Library! 📚✨

We had a fun-filled morning that included musical chairs, an engaging storytelling session, activities focused on learning the letter H, and a toy play session.

It was a joy to see the children learning, playing, and building their literacy skills through interactive activities.

📚✨ Lotus River Library celebrates Madiba’s legacy ✨📚

On Thursday, 16 July, Lotus River Library hosted a 67-minute Madiba Day event dedicated to service, care and community. From health screenings inside the library to food sharing in our neighbourhood, every moment reflected Nelson Mandela’s vision of Ubuntu — the spirit of humanity and togetherness.

Today, on Mandela’s birthday, we honour his life and legacy by remembering his words:
“It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it.” 💙💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us in giving back, especially Sister Kopolo from Klip Road Clinic, Ann Albrecht from City Health and our special guest, Mr Jones. Together, we keep Madiba’s dream alive. 🙌
