🎭 CLUE: HIGH SCHOOL EDITION

A look back at some moments from our recent production of Clue: High School Edition.

From the colourful characters and comic timing to the suspense, surprises and mayhem, our cast and crew brought this much-loved murder mystery to life on stage.

A huge amount of work goes into a school production, both on stage and behind the scenes. Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to all those who came along to support our students and the production.

🎉 Western Cape Schools Debate Squad Selection! 🎉

Congratulations to Mysha Sykes and Athraa Samsodien on being selected for the Western Cape Junior Squad, and to Jemma Davids on her selection for the Western Cape Senior Squad! 🏆

This is a particularly special achievement for Jemma, who has been selected as a Western Cape speaker for the fifth consecutive year. What an incredible accomplishment! 👏

Both the Junior and Senior squads will travel to Hilton College in KwaZulu-Natal to represent the Western Cape at the National Schools Debate Tournament, taking place from 8–13 December 2026.

We are incredibly proud of our debaters and wish them all the very best as they prepare to compete on the national stage! 🗣️🏆✨

🌍 PINELANDS TAKES ON THE SAIIA INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS QUIZ

Pinelands High School entered the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) Interschools International Affairs Quiz for the first time this year, with two teams competing at Bishops.

After preparing throughout Term 3, our Pinelands Ambassadors finished an impressive 5th overall out of 63 teams, missing first place by just FOUR points.

Pinelands Ambassadors: Jemma Davids, Dilyn-Ruby Mahaffey, Farah Pandit and Mahmood Parker.

Our second team, the Pinelands Diplomats, placed 34th out of 63 teams.

Pinelands Diplomats: Daniel Carroll, Mia Sanders, Michael Spencer and Sisipho Quva.

A special thank you to Grade 10 students Daria Soeker and Akho Macanda for helping the teams prepare, and to Laasya Jonnalagadda for her support on the day.

Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic first outing for Pinelands at the competition. 🌍👏

And, of course, there was time for a dance-off too! 💃🕺

🔬 PINELANDS HIGH STUDENTS SHINE AT CAPE TOWN SCIENCE FAIR

Congratulations to our students on their excellent results at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Cape Town Regional Science Fair, held at UCT from 11–13 August.

Pinelands High entered 24 students with 15 projects, earning:
🥇 4 Gold medals
🥈 4 Silver medals
🥉 5 Bronze medals
🏆 2 Special Awards

Lexi de Roo (Grade 9), Uthmaan Razak (Grade 11) and Huda Nacerodien (Grade 11) received Gold medals and were selected to advance to the International Science Fair in Johannesburg.

Lexi was also awarded Best in Category and received the SAEON Special Award for her biodiversity research.

For more than 20 years, our internal Science and Innovation Fair has formed part of our academic extension programme, encouraging independent research and scientific thinking.

Congratulations to our Science Department for their guidance and support, and to Ms Masureik and Mr Davies, who were both recognised with long-service awards at the regional fair.

Woolworths has officially closed MySchool and launched a new platform called MyDifference. This means you need to re-select Pinelands High School in the Woolworths app – otherwise we will lose your support.

Pinelands High has benefitted from MySchool over many years, with more than R5000 income a month being derived from that source.

At present, only 116 of our previous supporters have switched over to MyDifference with the result that, in future, we could potentially lose R4000 a month of anticipated income.

It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Qa-Eed Lodewyk in Grade 9.

This remarkable young man will be deeply missed by his friends, classmates, team-mates, teachers and the wider school community.

His time with us was very brief but the impact he made will be felt for a very long time. Among other things, he will be remembered for his bubbly personality, strong sense of justice, respectful nature, and happy smile.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time.
