UK Launches eVisa System & Online-Only Immigration Status (Effective 25 February 2026)

Dear Valued Customer

Please take note of important updates to the UK visa process for South African travellers.

New Online Visa Application Platform – Access UK.
The UK government has launched an updated online visa application service called Access UK.
All UK visa applications must continue to be submitted online via the official GOV.UK website.
Please note: The visa application process itself remains unchanged.

Introduction of eVisas (Digital Immigration Status).
Effective 25 February 2026, the UK is replacing many physical visa documents (vignette stickers in passports) with a digital immigration status known as an eVisa.
If your application is successful for certain visa types — including:
Visit visas
Seasonal Worker visas
Overseas Domestic Worker visas
Direct Airside Transit visas
EU Settlement Scheme family permits
You may no longer receive a physical visa sticker in your passport, Instead, your visa will be issued as a digital eVisa.

What is an eVisa?
An eVisa is a digital record of:
Your identity and immigration status
The type of visa you hold
The conditions of your stay (e.g. work or study permissions)
You will need to create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account on the GOV.UK website to:
Access your eVisa
View your visa conditions
Share your immigration status with airlines, employers or landlords
You will receive instructions on setting up your UKVI account when your visa decision is issued.

Important: If You Already Have a Vignette (Visa Sticker).
Travellers who already have a vignette in their passport must convert it to an eVisa by creating a UKVI account online.
This process:
Replaces your physical visa document with a digital record
Does not change your immigration status
Allows you to prove your status electronically
Steps to Convert Your Vignette to an eVisa:
Create a UKVI account via GOV.UK/eVisa
Link your passport (if vignette is inside) or BRP/BRC number
Complete identity verification (may require the “UK Immigration: ID Check” app)
Receive email confirmation once your eVisa is active
Key Considerations:
Physical visa documents are being phased out in favour of digital records.
Your existing vignette remains valid until expiry, but setting up a UKVI account is strongly recommended.
If your 90-day entry vignette has expired or was lost, you may need to apply for a “Transfer of Conditions” rather than simply creating an eVisa.
Some visitor visas may still receive physical vignettes — always check your specific visa type.

Flight Delays at Cape Town International Airport

Dear Valued Customer
Clients travelling to and from Cape Town International Airport are advised that several flights are currently experiencing delays following a fire at the airport’s main terminal building.

The fire has been extinguished and no injuries have been reported. However, the incident has impacted parts of the airport’s electrical and operational systems. As a result, arrival and departure rates have been reduced, leading to ongoing delays.

Airlines are working closely with airport authorities to minimise disruption and assist affected passengers as quickly as possible.

What you should do:

· Check your flight status directly with your airline before departing for the airport.

· Allow extra time for travel and airport procedures.

· Stay in contact with your travel consultant for assistance with rebooking or changes, where necessary.

Middle East - Airspace Disruptions

“CVCS” would like to advise clients of temporary airspace closures across parts of the Middle East due to ongoing regional developments.

Countries currently impacted include: United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan and Qatar.

As a result, flight routes may be adjusted, delayed, or cancelled at short notice.

Clients travelling within the next 24–48 hours — particularly on routes transiting the Middle East — are strongly advised to:

• Monitor communications directly from your airline
• Check flight status prior to departure
• Allow additional travel time where possible
