Masiphumelele Library was represented by Aviwe Mafela, who was invited to attend the Fish Hoek Library Literacy Festival. The festival featured a variety of enriching activities, including an e-book creation workshop, playwriting for primary schools, a poetry jam, author conversations, storytelling and more.
One of the highlights was a storytelling session featuring *The Gruffalo*, presented by Aviwe alongside the Area Head, Mr Wessels. Aviwe narrated the isiXhosa version of the story, while Mr Wessels presented the English version, creating a wonderful multilingual storytelling experience.
The event provided an opportunity to celebrate literacy, promote multilingualism and appreciate the power of storytelling in encouraging a love for reading among children and the broader community.
It was a truly wonderful and enriching experience, offering an opportunity to engage with fellow library professionals, explore creative approaches to literacy promotion and witness the important role libraries play in fostering a culture of reading.
Masiphumelele Library appreciates the opportunity to have been represented at this inspiring event.
