The document is practically orientated and identifies risks from within and outside of the property, procedures in the event of a veldfire, and addresses legal aspects. During litigation and insurance claim procedures compliance is usually crucially important and the Fire Management Plan addresses this. Interesting times ahead.... is currently involved in no less than 15 veldfire litigation matters that are heading for the Courts. While the possibility exists and hoped that settlements will be reached in the 11th hour, the Cat & Mouse game continues to be played as legal teams weigh up their strategy and options in the best interest of their client. Determining the origin and cause, wildfire reconstruction & timelines, documenting spread, compliance with the NVFFA by all the landowners involved, and taking into consideration what a Reasonable Landowner would have done all forms part of the sometimes complex investigation where weather data, eyewitness accounts, social media photos & videos, satellite data, veld ages and topography all play an important part of the investigation that is always challenging, always interesting, and always different. A number of members are taking advantage of the half-priced winter special Basic Wildfire training program that runs until the end of August. Programs are tailored for landowners that range from farms and small holdings to private Estates.

Enviro has just finished 13 hours of working with in clearing roads in the Cape Town southern suburbs from storm damaged trees. The primary mission was to clear public roads to allow vehicles access. It's been a long cold wet day.
