The Office of the Executive Mayor, Cllr Nozuko Best, in collaboration with Merafong Women Umanyano, is currently gathered in prayer at the Carletonville Civic Centre.

Today, women from across Merafong City stand together in faith, praying for peace and safety in our communities, social healing, unity, our families, our youth, and peaceful elections.

As women, we recognise the power of prayer and the responsibility we carry in building stronger and safer communities.

What a remarkable day for the people and young sporting talent of Merafong City⚽️⚽️⚽️

As we conclude our Mayoral Games 2026, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the teams that participated, our dedicated officials and organisers, our sponsors (Corobrik, Harmony Gold, DRD Gold, Dunlop and Engine Garage), and partners (Merafong Sports Confederation and Local Football Association) the community of Merafong City for coming out in support, and most importantly, our scouts (Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns and Siwelele) who took the time to identify and observe the incredible talent displayed by our young people.

These games are about more than trophies. They are about creating opportunities, discovering talent, nurturing dreams and opening doors for our young people to reach greater heights. When we invest in sport, we invest in discipline, confidence, unity and the future of our communities.

This investment is more than just the renovation of a sporting facility—it is a commitment to empowering our youth, promoting healthy lifestyles, nurturing local talent, and creating a safe space where our community can come together through sport and recreation.

As the Merafong City Local Municipality, we remain committed to investing in infrastructure that improves the quality of life of our residents and contributes to building a healthier, active, and united Merafong City.
